Hey!

Welcome to the group...I was just diagnosed about a month ago... I

am not sure how long I've had mine, but a month ago it was 7 cm. I

am going in tomorrow for another ultrasound. I will let the group

how mine is doing, if it has grown, and whether or not anymore show

up. I hope you find this group a great help, and as supportive as I

have!.,...Feel free to ask any questions that you have. Please voice

any concerns that you have, the women on here will post a reply to

anything they know about. Have a good week!

God bless,

kristina

A,

I was also having heavier periods for about 4 or 5 months and then I started

my period mid-cycle when I was not due for one (I'm on b/c pills). Then I

started having longer and longer periods with more bleeding and pain and blood

clots. This sent me in for an ultrasound and then a D&C and biopsy. After this

I lived like this for about 11 months before I finally had a UAE. But,

looking back, I probably had the fibroids for a while, they just didn't cause

any

symptoms for a while. My fibroids were small like yours, but they were the

submucosal which caused my heavy bleeding. They really didn't grow too much

during a year. My symptoms just got worse and worse.

Hi,

They grow at different rates. It would be impossible to tell. If you are

beginning to have bleeding problems, keep a check. You may just have 1 causing

bleeding problems that may be removed by a resection. They need to be small for

this so you may want to check this out. A resection is a much simplier

procedure. Also check for anemia and keep on top of it. Take Slow FE iron and

vitamin C. This can turn into a serious problem if left untreated. It's common

in women with normal periods so if yours are longer and heavier you might be at

increased risk. Your regular MD can do this.

Even a small fibroid in the right place can cause lots of problems. Don't let

the size fool you.

You don't want your bleeding to get out of control (I was a bleeder). Your

periods get longer, heavier, you flood (blood pours out of you), you have clots,

some huge and you begin a real fight with anemia. Make sure you keep check

concerning the blood loss. It's just devastating.

You have time to read these posts, ask questions and learn about all your

options. Check on anemia.

Thanks, Ku for responding. I know that the amount of fibroids and how

fast they grow, etc. varies from woman to woman. I figure if I keep

on talking to different people and reading the posts here I will keep

on learning.

Sounds like you need a new doctor. You should consider a

reproductive endocronologist - a doctor whose specialty is to

preserve fertility in women. You should also know that fibroids are

thought to " feed " off of estrogen, so a high estrogen BCP may not be

the best for you right now. Also, a hysterectomy is NOT inevitable

for you. There are other treatments these days for fibroids, you

just need to do your research and find the right doctor.

I'm 32 and had a myomectomy last week. I have not had children and would like

to in the future. In my case, I stoppes taking BC pills because there is a

theory that estrogen promotes fibriod growth. Try to get a 2nd opinion and

remember that myomectomy removes the fibroids and you keep your uterus. You

have other options. Good luck!

I wondering what helps releive the symptoms if surgery is not an option. I'm

currently on high estrogen BCP with no break to stop the bleeding, and

whereas I have lost 13 lbs, my skin is great and I have been in a really good

mood, my bleeding has not stopped.

Hi, ,

one of the drugs my daughter has been on recently has a lactation listed as a

side effect. I just don't remember now which one. I believe it was one of the

antipsychotics.

A good way to check the info on drugs is through the National Institute of

Mental Health site called Medline Plus. it also has tons of other useful

information Go to;

http://medlineplus.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ On the left hand side click on

Drugs (or something like that). Then you can find your drug in the alphabetical

index.

If the above link does not work for you go tho www.nih.gov then select

National Institute of Mental Health and find it that way.

with BPD. She has been in counseling since she was 11 years old. At that

time she was hearing voices. She has been on all types of medication, but

continues with the ups and downs, and with the cutting. She has been in a

group home, in an apartment with her boyfriend, recently moved to an

apartment in our town. We are totally supporting her emotionally and

financially. She is working on Disability with SS.

Now - my question

Do any of you know of a drug that could cause side effects of high prolactin

levels (she is producing milk)?

She had a pregnancy test to day to be on the safe side, but it wasn't very

possible since she broke up with BF 8 weeks ago.

I tried looking online...but all I could find were things like pituitary

tumor, etc.

Thanks!

years before I made the commintment to follow through. At this point

in my life, I have no life, its at a stand still. My health is

getting worse, so I have to do this for me and my kids. If I want to

see them married with kids of their own someday. good luck. keep

It can't hurt you to try to get it approved. I thought I would be denied

too, but I wasn't. If you feel you want this for your health, then go for

it. Sometimes as Mom's we get all tied up with what our kids need and want,

but you have to remember to take care of yourself, too. It's like in an

airplane, if the oxygen masks come down, they tell the parents to put theirs

on first, and then help the children, because if you're not in good shape,

you won't be as much use to your children.

Hi, Sorry did not see a name, but welcome to the board. You just have to weigh

the pros and cons and decide if this is going to benefit you and do what is

best. I look forward to sharing this journey with you and hope you can come to

the right decision for yourself. This is definately not something to take

Welcome to the Group, Faith! I haven't been reading many posts

lately. Doing the taxes and pulling hair out because can't find all

info! And then had other problems with computer -- the MSN email

account hasn't worked for 6 months or so, so I was using Hotmail, now

all messages I send via that are blank. So am now using Yahoo email.

Not much pain lately and I think I am feeling so good today because

yesterday was to have been the last appointment with shrink here, but

when I found the card, I realized I had a conflict! So I cancelled

that, she couldn't see me for 2 months! Ha! Lotta good that would

have done!! Saw the nurse to day so I could get my meds and said

good by to all of the front office staff and doc's scheduling

secretary. And yesterday called the office of shrink I saw 18 years

ago so I could schedule appointment with him!!! So glad his office

manager remembers me after all these years. And I have an

appointment with him on the day I could have seen the #*!@^ here

instead of going to St. Louis! But I am so sick of seeing this woman

who would never make eye contact unless she didn't hear something I

said and then she would look up from the chart, squint at me and

say " Huh?? What did you say?? "

And that brings me to a question to this group! Do any of you see

doctors who are so busy writing in your chart (or perhaps the

previous patient's chart) that they cannot look straight at you??? I

loathe anyone that I might be talking to who will not make eye

contact! After seeing this woman for nearly 7 years, I am so glad

to know that unless some serious problem happens between now and May

29th she is out of my life forever. Will also be interesting to see

what Terry thinks when he reads what she has written in my chart!!!!

I don't mean to offend anyone who is really in pain, but this is such

a milestone for me!!!

And I have to explain that the first time I saw him 20 years ago, he

spent at least 2 hours talking to me!! I learned over the years that

I saw him that I should call and see if he was on time and if he

wasn't I would plan around that!! The reason I started doing that

was because, I felt that if a psychiatrist would spend 2 hours doing

an in take with me, he could well have done the same for all of his

other patients. And the other thing is we both grew up in Southern

Illinois and have some common bonds --- such as our high school teams

both played against the former Chicago Bulls player then coach, Jerry

Sloan back in the days when Jerry was still in high school, just as

we were! (I date myself with that comment.)

Now, to all of you who are in pain, I hope you will all have some

relief, but at the same time I can't tell you what to do. And if I

discover I am loosing this good feeling, as April 16th approaches, I

know where I can turn for support. The next month and a half are the

most difficult time of the year for me and I guess have been for

since 1947. I am not saying much about that big brother I lost that

day, because I know, when DH retires and we are back in Illinois, I

wll have more support. And also the encouragement of my friends and

family.

I did one good thing Friday night, and that was calm my hysterical 16

year old great niece who was in D.C. waiting either to get on a plane

or to begin the last leg of a terrible flight! She was to have flown

from Palm Beach to St. Louis, but before they even left the ground,

they had to go back as everyone smelled smoke! So she changed planes

repeatedly and supposedly had to go through security 4 times! All of

that because she was scheduled to take the test so she can work as a

lifeguard this summer --- and it had been cancelled. I still don't

know if my niece knows what Jess told me or not, just know Jess had

spoken to her father one time and she must have been so happy when

she saw I had called and she knew she could vent.

I am off to bed. Tomorrow is another day with the infernal revenue

taxes and perhaps some shifting of things so DH can pack books.

Faith, I do want you to know that I am not always this up beat and

feeling so good --- it's just that I have one major irriating person

out of my life, hopefully for good. I did not realize how good I

would feel when this day finally arrived!!!

And I hope that by moving from Seattle to Idaho (sp?), the climate

may be drier and that will help you!

Hi Rose, Welcome to the group :-)No, whey is not allowed on the diet. Here is a link to what Elaine about it, http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/whey_isolate.htmTake care,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999, SCD 2002To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Saturday, July 18, 2009 3:16:35 PMSubject: Newbie

I've just come across the web site, and ordered Dr. Gottschall's

book. I printed out the legal/illegal foods list, but didn't

see whey. I know this is derived from milk, but is it acceptable?

Thanks.
