Guest guest
~What about a gray hue coming from INSIDE the teeth? This happened to me and to Baden. It is the weirdest thing. It was not a stain outside on the teeth? It took about 3-4 weeks to go away.I had a lot of plaque at the time~ Hi Jodi-- I've never heard of a transient gray hue from inside the teeth. Perhaps the plague accumulation had something to do with your perception of the color of the teeth. Did you have a dental cleaning at the time when you noticed it? Guest guest
What portion of the teeth did you see the gray?? And are you talking about ALL of the teeth in your mouth or only some? Was it near the gum and extending down to the middle of the tooth? The pulp chamber of course has vital tissue in it/blood suppy...so if something was going on systemically and circulating through the blood stream, of course it could enter the pulp chamber, but that would be an unlikely cause of the gray shade, unless you had internal bleeding in the teeth. I haven't heard of a patient report a temporary shade change in their teeth, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. I have a message into my brother and Dad, both of which are dentists. I am a RDH, Registered Dental Hygienist, for the past 20 yrs...just wanted to let you know that I wasn't someone unrelated to the dental field trying to help w/ your question. I'll post once my two favorite dentists get back to me. My brother by the way is a specialist, dealing w/ Endodontics. He will probably have some good insight or at least help find some sources of info that you could look into. But the good thing is it has gone away, right?? Guest guest
Terry, Of course I did! I had a few done. The hygienist said it was due to staining from eating broccoli and drinking green tea but when she cleaned the teeth that hue was still there. She said not to worry as it was " only vanity " . I didn't want to open my mouth for 3-4 weeks it was so freakish. Me not opening my mouth is like hell freezing over LOL. It's the oddest thing. Thankfully this never returned. Baden had this happen to her too. She also went to get her teeth cleaned and was not satisfied with the answer. Jodi
Guest guest
Hi , I replied to Terry the Dentist on list.. way cool we have so many opinions from with-in the field. I love this online community! I went and got 2 opinions at the time this happened to me. Yes, if I remember correctly it was more like the middle part of the tooth that was a darker gray and the sides were a lighter gray- this idea of it being the pulp is quite interesting. I wish Baden was here for this conversation- I will email her! Ohh.. and I am a fanatic about flossing! Jodi
Guest guest
Hi , It was all the teeth that I could see in the mirror- I am unsure about the other teeth! I didn't see it near the gum but it was definately at the top of each tooth extending down. It was a gray hue from the inside has this type of weird veil like look. Thankfully it went away within about 3-4 weeks. My teeth are clean now just are like on the yellow side. Which I can understand that's staining!
