Kim, it's so nice to hear from you! So sorry to hear about all those

difficult things you are having to deal with. Much love and healing

to everyone involved.

taking some time away so I could study for the CPA exam. There are four

parts...I've taken and passed one. I was hoping to be much further along at this

point, I was actually hoping to be done, but we have had a lot of family issues.

My Grandpa fell and broke his leg at the beginning of March and after 2 months

in the hospital, he passed away on May 5th. He had been taking care of my

Grandma who has Alzheimer's. We all tried really hard to take care of her and

avoid putting her in a facility but no one could do it. With Alzheimer's

patients, if you take them out of their comfort zone, a lot of the time they go

through a " rapid decline " . That happened to my Grandma. At Christmas time, she

was normal Grandma just a little forgetful. Now, she has no idea who or what she

is or who anyone else is. She's combative, tries to run away, simple tasks like

going to the bathroom are too much

> for her, she's lost her vocabulary and can't really speak, it's just really,

really sad.

> And during that time, my mom developed stasis ulcers on her leg. She was in

such severe pain that she quit eating and drinking because she was so nauseous

from the pain. She dropped 50 lbs. and was so dehydrated that I could pinch the

skin on her arm and it would stay pinched! So I was trying to help with Grandma,

visit Grandpa in the hospital, take care of my mom, cook for and make an

appearance at work occasionally.

emails more. I have nearly 9,000 emails from the group. There's no way I can

read all that so I'm just going to start fresh and hopefully catch up on what's

going on with everyone as I go. I hope everyone is doing well!!

Thank you, Hannah. I appreciate it. The good news is, I think (really, really hope!!!) the worst of it has past. KimTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Saturday, July 18, 2009 9:00:49 PMSubject: Re: I'm back :-)
