Guest guest
Hello, I have had bilateral cataracts for the last 7 years... I have just turned 58. Mine have been attributed to multiple and huge steroid dosing (I've had UC for 51 years now!!! and PSC for 7 years (still not officially diagnosed but am told I do have the disease!) and the inflammatory effects from uveitis. I have multiple "immune-mediated" diseases including UC so I see ('scuse the pun!) the cataracts as the most benign of all my disease processes. It is not a lethal disease, it is eminently treatable and operable. and glasses.... although expensive... provide good relief until surgery is possible/necessary. I would say, let the cataract diagnosis fall to the bottom of your angst list.... unless you have other reasons to be concerned about genetic transfer to your own offspring. And even then........ it's not a lethal diagnosis. Good luck. DutchPat
