Guest guest
Darlene, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. Were you two close? I hope he has a beautiful funeral. Take extra ggod care of yourself! Jill Re: Doctor appt... he says I can be cured? Please read//Debra - Lyrica Debra, I would start the Lyrica on a day when you won't be driving or doing much of anything except hang around the house; the first dose I took, I felt " punch drunk " and walked like it too; DH was extremely concerned about my reaction initially. But now I am on the 150 mg 2x/day and have no issues. I don't think we can be cured of fibro, but I DO think the more we can do to detoxify ourselves can only be helpful overall, as the inflammation, etc. that we get sometimes exacerbates our flares. I have no clue about how many types of arthritis there are - I know about JRA because my cousin has it in her knees. I know about RA because several folks on this list have it. And of course OA... I know you don't want to get all that bloodwork done, but it might point to some other issues you have that might make life better all around if that makes sense? I am having massive fog issues today. We are burying my grandpa in about an hour or so and I cannot think clearly. ((((Hugs)))) Darlene > > I saw my doctor today for my refills. He is a great doctor. Don't get me wrong. The man is smart and has done ALOT of research on fibromyalgia. I have several questions for you all. > > #1- he said to cut out the wheat in my diet. I can do that. But please tell me if anyone here has done this and seen some results. > #2- no sugar. > #3- nothing with yeast > #4- dont drink tap water... which I don't because it tastes like crap. > > Alright. He wrote my scripts as usual. He said that I can cure myself if I do what he says. But... he also said that he will still fill my meds for me if I need them. So he was not being an a$$hole. > > He also gave my Lyrica samples 75mg twice a day. (I am afraid to take it because I have to work today and am afraid it will throw me for a loop at first). But I will try it as soon as I can. > > Also he said the ridges in my fingernails and the breakage of my teeth are a metabolism problem. He says that fibromyalgia is caused by toxins that build up and affect the central nervous system. (the brain and spinal chord). > > One more question for you all. He looked at my fingers. My fingers curl upward at the tips and have for years but it is worse now. He said it is an " inflammatory " arthritis. But said not necessarily rheumatiod. So what kind of arthritis could it be folks????? Osteoarthritis is NOT inflammatory and I thought there was only two kinds of arthritis?????? > > Wants me to have 200 dollars worth of labs drawn. Which I will do though I can't afford it very well. Will try to see if the lab will work with me a little bit on payments. Wants a CBC, a BMP, a thyroid and tsh, estrogen and progesterone levels. > > Ok.... if you have any thoughts on the diet thing and when I should start Lyrica let me know. > > love and hugs, > Debra V. > > > > --------------------------------- > You rock. Guest guest
How right you are Darlene! Lyrica is NOT a magic pill, nothing is! It makes us look like we are just wimps to pain and its all in our heads. I still have friends that don't understand why I don't have the energy to go out with them even if it's just going to their house and sitting outside! These commericals are just a fantasy world for Pfizer. They need to walk one mile in our shoes and maybe then they would understand what we go through! Guest guest
Just remember its a sales pitch for the pill. It's like those Snickers commercials that are supposed to be so nourishing and help you get through the day. It's a bunch of BS but they are trying to sell Snickers. These commercials are trying to sell Lyrica. They want people to go to their doctors and ask for this new miracle drug; which by the way is very expensive. My online drug store doesn't even carry it. I'm going to try and see if I can find out why. I imagine because they haven't been able to negotiate a reasonable bulk price for it. I'm up to 600mg per day so I take 4 pills a day. It does help. I can't deny that. Fortunately, I have Rx insurance. My online drug store has great discounts and I beleive anyone that needs meds should be able to afford them. It's ludicrous to me that someone doesn't get the treatment they need because the meds are too high. So you see, my 'business' is something close to my heart. I'm hoping to help people find ways to afford their meds. OK well I got off on a tangent. Again, remember the commercials for what they are; sales pitches. They don't care how you feel, they just want you to buy their drugs.
