Guest guest
Hi, I was just dx'd with fibro a couple of weeks ago. I went through a long 3 year battle to get dx'd with a disease that doesn't make sense to me or any of the medical prof. After being a nurse for 18 years, I feel like I am being just thrown away because noone can come up with anything, and so I am just being lumped into a category. I am having a really bad pain and depression day and just don't know what to do. I just need some answers that others of you have found, been told, anything. I just want some reason, some help, some hope..... Sherrri ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock. Guest guest
((((Sherri))))) i'm sending some positive feelings your way. i've been where you are, and I think many of us have. being a nurse, i'm sure you have noticed some patients go through something like it when they are first dx'ed with diseases such as this. You are grieving for the loss of yourself. you're losing your dreams, your hope, your sense of self. it will be a while before you can " go on " , you need to allow yourself all five stages of grief. after this, when you are ready, your task is to look deep into yourself and find your new strengths, weaknesses, and most important of all-- you need to find and build new dreams within the context of your new self. go slowly, do tasks one at a time and never overdo it. you will find joy again, life will go on. i was dxed at 26 seven years ago, and i was a wreck, still am some days. BUT i also have found that my fibro was a gift given to me, so i could be reborn a stronger and more able person... gentle hugs, Loretta > > Hi, > I was just dx'd with fibro a couple of weeks ago. Guest guest
Sherri, I'm so sorry about your lack of compassion from the medical community. I have realized that we as the fibromites, must read anything we can get our hands on, and learn everything we can about our disease, as we are the ones that have to defend ourselves to the drs. and know what we are talking about. I am in the process of reading an excellent book about fibro, written by a woman who has severe fibro and was in med school. So she knows what she's talking about. It's technical, but understandable. Very good, I highly recommend it to everyone. We can't know enough about it. I hope you get some help soon.
