I guess I will post here about what is going on with me lately. I have had this

problem with my right shoulder blade area and my shoulder for months. It hurts

like hell sometimes. I am beginning to wonder if it is part of fibro or

something else. I went to a massage therapist the other day... she was

wonderful and sweet... but now I am paying for it with pain. (she did nothing

wrong and nothing I did not tell her was ok).

But when I first laid down on the massage table, she looked at my back and

told me the right side looked swollen.

I wake up at night with pain in my shoulder so bad that sometimes to

reposition I have to literally lift the right arm with my left one.

Just wondering if anyone else here has had this same experience? I have knots

in my back of course. One bad one in the right shoulder blade area and one that

the therapist found the other day in my thoracic area. The one in the middle of

my back is as big as a golf ball she said. (of course this was with deep

massage that she felt it).

Don't know what to do. Will tell the doc but I know this leads to more tests

that I don't have money for.

COULD it be the fibromyalgia?

love and hugs,

Debra V.

Deb,

That happens to me with my right knee. I wake up in EXCRUCIATING pain and have

to meove my leg with my hands. Also, for some reason after I fall asleep, I put

both arms over my over my head. Same thing, wake up in horrible pain, but now

since both arms are frozen I usually have to have my husband move them.

So, it could be fibro, but you need to know for sure so you aren't doing any

more damage. A cortisone shot might really help too. I get them in my right

knee every so often.

Debra, my left shoulder is EXACTLY like you have described. Many times

the pain medication does not even touch the pain and tightness in it.

I, like you, have not had it checked out. I've often wondered if it's

not arthritis in my shoulder instead of fibro due to the fact that a

lot of hte pain is actually in my joint in that area. What I have to do

to make it ease up is a combination of things:

1) Rub on some topical pain creme

2) massage it with my deep muscle massager

3) do some intense stretching = usually over the course of at least 30

minutes

4) alternate ice and heat for 15 to 20 minutes at a time

I hope you find out what the problem is. Good Luck

N.

I get the same thing - mine runs behind my shoulder blade, up towards

my neck all the way to my skull and down my right arm. Mine is all

muscle related. I get lidocaine shots in my trigger points there

(hurts like heck but the relief is worth it) and use ice (bags of

frozen peas) and lidocaine patches. Still have the pain all the time

but these make it more bearable...

Hi Debra,

Have you tried a chiro???? Mine really helped with the knots in my back...took

awhile but eventually, it felt much better. Wish I could afford to see him

now...soon I hope.

Hugs,
