Guest guest
You all are probably right. I am going to look at the website. I have heard many many people say that aspartame is bad for us especially in the amounts that are put in sodas. And if you drink diet sodas like I use to drink regular sodas...... it would be way too much. Thanks for the post. Debra V. Guest guest
I have a disabled daughter who sees neurologists on a regular basis. Years ago, when aspartame was just becoming popular her neurologist told me to never, ever give her aspartame and that I should not use it myself. He said that it acts on some " core " in the brain. This was a world-reknowned neurologist known for his research. If you read the warnings on cereal boxes that have aspartame in them, you will see that it warns people to not eat it if they have seizure disorders. This is because it amplifies seizures, because it acts on the brain, somehow. So, while it has been deemed safe by the FDA, it makes sense to me that it can affect some people negatively. It also turns toxic if it gets hot, that is why you are not supposed to bake with it. How much diet soda do you think is sitting in a hot truck somewhere while it is being delivered? In spite of my the neurologist's warning, I continued to drink diet soda with the aspartame in it. I knew too much of it caused me to get a headache but thought nothing of it. But when I was diagnosed with fibro, and was REALLY hurting one day, I decided to try stopping the diet soda. It made an amazing difference! It was extremely difficult for me to quit drinking the diet soda, I was drinking about 4 per day and hated water. But when I would lapse I would hurt, and so the pain disciplined me. I am so much better without it! I think that each of us probably have different food sensitivities that can cause us pain. Nutra-sweet is my main one, but I suspect yellow food coloring and anything with mold are 2 more. I just don't want to give up my cheese and mushrooms! But I REALLY hurt after eating in a Mexican restaurant, especially if I order Queso, which I love! Just my thoughts, > You all are probably right. I am going to look at the website. Guest guest
I think it depends on where you buy them - I just looked at the can I was drinking and it does have aspartame in it; however, I have tried the one with splenda (it is marked on the can and/or bottle) and didn't like it as much. I do my best to limit my diet drinks to 1 maybe 2 a day. The rest of the day is spent drinking water water water! I don't need additives to the water because I've always enjoyed drinking it, but understand how some who never got into that habit have to add something. I believe that dehydration contributes to our pain levels, that's for sure! Darlene > > > In a message dated 4/24/2008 4:43:22 A.M. Guest guest
Debi, I just ran (not really) to look at my ever present can of diet Coke and it still has the aspartame. That is good news though, I'll have to check this out. I was going through withdrawal just thinking about not drinking it. I do have to cut down anyway, and work in more water! Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Not Diet Coke, but the Coke Zero is the one made with Splenda. I still prefer Diet Coke. But I limit myself to one a day. Jeanne in WI Diet Coke changed its formula, so it doesn't contain aspartame anymore. Love and hugs, Debi/55-CA

Guest guest
In Dallas, Texas we have Diet Coke with Splenda (specially marked cans). The Coke Zero here has aspartame. If you follow Janet Star Hull's website, she has data that shows Splenda is not safe either. If I even drink one Diet soda with aspartame it brings on the pain so I stay completely away from all artificial sweeteners. I've noticed that even regular sodas cause problems and found that the EU has produced clinical evidence that the sodium benzoate in sodas damages the RNA/DNA in our cells the same as alcohol does and that many manufacturers there are removing it from their drinks while more testing is being done. > > > In a message dated 4/25/2008 8:27:24 A.M. Guest guest
Well, they shouldn't confuse us all by doing it different in various parts of the country. Sorry. So you can't get it with aspartame at all anymore? Have you ever heard of Tab which was made by Coke? I still see that every once in a while in the stores. Guest guest
I don't drink any drinks that bubble! I wished I could, cause I was a Dr. Pepper freak up until 2006. I had the lapband and I am not suppose to drink them unless they are flat....that just spoils all the fun in drinking them so I just don't do it!
