Guest guest
I've had headaches all my life. I have Imitrex but I absolutely hate how it makes me feel when I take it so I won't take it. I've had opposite effect with the Lyrica and I take a lot. 150mg 4 times a day. I am not having headaches nearly as often. I just added Topomax which is used sometimes for migraines so I'm hopeful its going to help even more. But it makes my Diet Pepsi taste funny!! I have CT scans, MRIs, and Angiograms. Nothing. Now they think it is part of the FM and when I saw the pain management person two week ago she gave me Lyrica. I have read many people telling me that a side effect is headaches, the PA even said so. I am afraid to even try it. I have yet to fill the Rx. Guest guest
I also have trouble with migraines although not as often as yours(sorry to hear they are so severe). I have not had any trouble with the Lyrica making my migraines more frequent or more often. I a taking 150 mg two times a day. Hope this helps. Guest guest
It does give me headaches. That is one of the side effects I have noticed. However, I usually don't have a problem with headaches and can just take some aspirin or something for the Lyrica headache and it controls it. However, if you have a history of severe headaches, it might not be as easy for you to get rid of the headache. I would suggest though that you go ahead and try the medication. Even after one dose you will probably be able to tell if it is going to be a serious problem or not. (you would have to put up with it for a little bit of course). That is just my thoughts. Ask the doc if he thinks it might be a good idea to try one or two doses. It should not be a problem to stop taking it after just one or two doses. (if it is used continuously for a week or so I would definately not suggest anyone just dropping the medication without weaning it). OF course, ask the doctor first by all means. I do know that Lyrica has helped me alot though with the fibro. I have put up with a few side effects but they seem to be letting up now after almost a month of treatment. hugs, Debra V. Guest guest
Missy, I have suffered from migraines all my life. Almost 2 years ago I was put on lyrica for my FM and it has worked great on the nerve pain. One side effect is that I rarely have a headache and when I do they are not that bad. I know that many others complain about the side effects of lyrica including headaches. That just proves that everyone reacts differently so you will not know until or if you try it. Also, I did not gain weight with it. Margaret B > Hello, > > For years I have been suffering headaches that can take your breath > away. I have CT scans, MRIs, and Angiograms. Nothing. Guest guest
This is a long shot. My daughter and co worker has migraines. So bad it puts them in the hospital at times. The weird thing. Excederin migraine helps. Try it They say it wont leave the after effect of the prescription drugs. Might work. Janie
Guest guest
Missy, I have migraines and I've been on the Lyrica for over a month and haven't noticed any increase of headaches at all. It would be worth a try, maybe. /Mi Headaches and Lyrica Hello, For years I have been suffering headaches that can take your breath away. I have CT scans, MRIs, and Angiograms. Nothing. Guest guest
I actually prefer Advil Migraine as I always got the shakes taking excedrin migraine. I know that since I've been using a chiro, mine are once in a blue moon, and I mean that literally. I had to throw the med out that I took for it because it expired! Darlene > > This is a long shot. Guest guest
I think I get them from Lyrica. Unfortunately..I also have water weight gain too,and I take lasix for it. One pill to cancel out another..but I'd go crazy w/o Lyrica,it helps so much. What's really hard,I need mine refilled, took last one tonight, and I don't have the money for the co-pay of 3.00 for every medication I get that isn't generic. $637.00 a month on SSI does not go far.
