Guest guest
hi this is patty e-mail denookc@.... i joined this group back in june, i have learned alot. I have acm herniated disc2,3,4,5 compressed spinal corda few other things. Pain numbness, headaches really bad, vertigo, ect. My first question is . Is thier anyone in oklahoma with this ifeel like everyone is far away. My next Ques, i have put off the surgery to fix my acm and disc for at least 5yrs.Which has caused permaentdamage in some areas. As i have been reading the mail for the last six months it seems that the majority of those who have surgery seem to be better for 3,6,9,yrs then thier symtoms start to come back. Somtimes worse than before, so am i misunderstanding the post ? Also many people who have had surgery from other drs, are waiting to get to dr. B in New YorkI cant travel so if you dont have this done in NY or Missiouri are your chances of having a successfull surgery not to good? And why after sur. when people are having problems they go back or call thier nsrg but it sounds like they dont get much help , just go home come back and see me in 2 or 3 months i think you will be better that probaly seems like alife time? Im sorry this is long but i would like to know if i have the wrong impression because i'll probbaly be havinf surg. in jan. or feb. I would of already had it but on my pre-op mri a tumor was found in my thyroid and had to be removed. thank you to anyone that takes the time to read this . Every one on here is very strong, and supportive to others thank you for being a blessing in my life
Guest guest
, what you are doing sounds like a good idea. It might help them piece the puzzle together. I sure hope you do go to a doctor. You need one badly. I just hope you get one that is not a " weenie doc " like alot have described here. LOL. But seriously, I think you are doing the right thing. It is best probably not to mention that you already know you have fibromyalgia or something close to that family. If he or she is a know it all, then they will do everything they can to not diganose your fibro. But yes, tell them all the symptoms, how long they have been going on, and the history. love, Debra V. Subject: I have questions To: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group Date: Thursday, April 24, 2008, 6:43 AM I haven't posted things in a while. In a few weeks, I hope to have gathered enough funds to go to a local clinic here and get some answers. Yesterday I got some information from Pfizer about Fibromyalgia and the tender points. My question is this. What if I have more tender points than they show? Also, I have written out an outlined health history of sorts, for when I go to the doctor. Is this a good thing to do? It describes injuries suffered as a child, breaks and falls, and other things like that. I describe the problems suffered while in expectancy with my four children, the family history of polymialgia with both my grandmothers, the diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, TMJ and even arthritis (they said osteo when I was only nineteen). I described the pain I suffer daily, where it originates, if I can tell, how it affects me and what I do about it, holistically or OTC drug wise. I name off my allergies, my drug interaction problems and so forth as well. Is this a good way to go to the doctor? Let me know what you think. A. Guest guest
I think it's very helpful to the doctor to have all that info. Whether the doctor believe it is will of course, depend on that particular doctor. I will pray you get someone who is interested, caring, and will offer you some viable treatment options. The extra tender points are probably trigger points from myofacsial pain syndrome. It tends to go hand in hand with FM. Take care. Jeanne in WI I haven't posted things in a while. Yes, you're right, they do. But they usually give you about one line to write your meds. I take about 28 pills per day, and my meds and supplements fill a whole page. There's no way I'm going to sit there in the doc's office and remember dosage of every pill that I take. It's a kicker to write " See attached " in the space provided, and hand them the sheet of meds. If nothing else, the history that you bring with you is a reference. I'm 57, and there's no way I can remember everything that ever happened to me. It's too easy to forget stuff, like that I used to be diabetic and it was resolved when I had weight loss surgery. In other words, when I go in the hospital, they don't have to treat me for diabetes and I don't need a diabetic diet, but they need to watch my blood sugar. It's really best of you think the stuff out and put it on paper before you get to the doc's office. Again, it may be a function of that I've had a lot of medical problems over the years, and have an extensive medical history, and take a lot of meds and supplements. I really must keep it organized. Which reminds me, I need to do some updating. Z
