You already know my answer :-( BTW, panic attacks can kill you if left

untreated and your system gets too overloaded.

Well I ended up going into complete shock during one of them... but

that was my husbands fault. I was in severe pain, he picked a fight

and was acting so mean, then was telling me tht i needed to grow up

and deal with it and that if i couldnt get over some little aches i

was a wimp and all this crap... I have ptsd so when he started yelling

at me, I stopped breathing, had an asthma attack... then he got out of

the car and walked off... i had to drive myself home... almost

wrecked... DID get the car in a ditch... drove up to my moms house and

layed (literally on the horn... I was hyperventilating so bad that

when she opened the car door, i just fell out.. i was totally limp...

when the paramedics got there, they had a hard time getting me stable

enough to transport me...yeah, Jon felt like an a**.

he's grown up alot since then... that crap doesnt happen anymore. he

might get mad and walk out, but doesnt do anything that might kill me

anymore.

My late husband didn't want to take me to ER one night. He felt pretty dang bad

too. If you don't have them, people just don't understand how dangerous they

really are.

Hi Suzanne,

I know how you feel...most of the time I can deal with the pain but

sometimes I just panic and the pain is SO bad that I forget that " this too shall

pass. " I just can not make myself relax or think of anything else and when my

pain pills do not work I can really lose it. I don't know the answer but

maybe just knowing that unlike some diseases, the pain we feel should subside

at some point can help.

And I try and remember I am not alone and that I have friends here that

understand even if no one in my home does.

Gentle hugs,

Marla

My Dr gave me about 20 Ativan to keep on hand. I use about 2-6 pills

in a year. It's nice to have around, when I feel the anxiety getting

to high.

I had one panic attack (that I'm aware of anyhow) and it was when I

was married to my first husband. I woke up in the middle of the

night, covered in sweat, clammy, heart racing, scared spitless (he

was at work, my babies were sleeping in their rooms). Instead of

calling 911, I called the operator. God bless that woman because I

honestly thought I was having a heart attack. She somehow managed to

call the hubby at work and send out rescue units to my house. When

they got there, my pulse was thready and BP was high but the worst of

it was over. I went to my doctor the next day and you know what

caused it? I had had laproscopic surgery and it was the leftover gas

that builds up - it had pushed up into my diaphragm causing me to not

be able to breathe!

And because I have asthma/copd, when I can't breathe, instead of

panicking, I will send my daughter to find my inhaler and get DH. I'm

certainly not sure how in the world adding fibro to my mix will play

now, you know?

Hi Suzanne,

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. What a terrible thing to do. I

can't imagine just being left alone in the car while you were having a panic

attack and an asthma attack. I can't imagine how you drove home to your

mother's, but thank God you did. How scary to have paramedics have a hard time

trying to get you stable.

I was pushed out of the car onto the side of the Interstate by my then husband

with my kids in the car. I actually thought he would come back for me, but I

had to walk home. It was about 4 miles. When I got there the kids were

hysterical and he was lying on the couch watching TV.

Was this before or after you were married? Be really careful around this man.

I know he is your husband and you say he has changed, but he still sounds

dangerous to me. Don't end of like me with no idea who you are after a lengthy

marriage where he saps the life right out of you. Hopefully not literally.

Love, Marti

My panic attacks usually are in the dead of night - or just before I go to bed.

I have learned that the best think I can do for me during them, is to get up and

do something that takes my mind off it. NOT read, not the computer, I do stuff

like clean out drawers or something and it works well to help me keep my mind

off it and then I calm down.

Just a thought
