Guest guest
Christi, my heart is with you honey. It is so sad that people who are truly ill have to work. (that is my case also). Let me ask you, are you on Lyrica??? The reason I ask is because Lyrica was specifically found to help some with the type of pain you are describing. It is nerve pain when you have that horrible burning sensation. I am lucky in that I have only had that particular type pain in my hands. Love and hugs, Whine all you want here, Debra V. Subject: I Hurt To: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group Date: Monday, May 5, 2008, 8:04 AM I have not hurt this bad in a long time. I got maybe 3 hours sleep last night in 15-20 min intervals all night long. Tossed and turned, tossed and turned. My lower back, legs, arms, shoulders are burning with pain this morning and I had to go to work, in fact I am writing this from work now. I have taken two 50mg tramadol, I am really hoping this will at least curb the pain so I can concentrat today at work. I hate this pain. Most days I can keep it at bay, but not this time. Could have something to do with the weather changing, I am sure this is not helping, it has my arthritis flaring also. My hands are so swollen it hurts to do anything, but I have to. My fingers have been very stiff the last few days. Oh well, this the the life I have now, enough whining. Gotta get back to work. Later, Christi in N. Guest guest
No I am not on lyrica. My rhumy does not think I need it. I am still going round and round with the doctors trying to determine all my medical issues. I ignored the pain for way too many years and now am paying for it. I am going to my PCP this afternoon to have a Vit D (OH) test done as I have learned that vit D levels when low can cause wide spread pain and brain fog. I am hoping that due to my not being out side on a regular basis for 10+ years that my levels are low and once I can get them up some of my pain will go away. Just another thing to check out. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. Guest guest
I totally understand the problem with waiting too long. I have had severe problems for 7 years, but can date pain back to 11 years ago. I have always had a high pain tolerance, and so I would go in, and they would just ignore me. I mean, my pain tolerance is so high, that I had knee surgery, with no pain meds after, and was on a physical challenge course 12 hours later, and was told I would be on crutches for 2 weeks.those lasted 2 days before I was done with them. So I have always been able to handle a lot. Therefore, even though I was in a TON of pain, I would just keep pushing through it until the FM (what I now know is FM) was so severe that it was causing numbness and tingling and causing me to fall because I couldn't feel my leg. Or I would not be able to use my hand because I would lose all the strength in it. It would eventually get better because I would finally rest simply because I had no other option. And yet, the doctors (military doctors that is), would just tell me I needed to be a tougher military wife and quit whining and go home and deal with it. Finally, we have been allowed to have civilian doctors, who immediately sent me to a rheumatologist after seeing and hearing some of the things I have been experiencing, and the Rheumatologist immediately said it was FM...that was Monday of last week. Finally, an answer to this looooong wait! So I feel for you and the problems you are having getting diagnosed, and getting meds. I started lyrica last week, and today is the day I am up my dose. I really hope you are able to get answers, and get some good pain relief. Guest guest
Yes, many of us have very low vit D levels as I have heard. Some people have a zero level. Does it not make us wonder why???? It seems like they could look at that from a research point of view and work backwards with it to figure out what the link is with fibro and low Vit D. Hope you feel better. I can't believe they won't give you Lyrica. It is one of the few drugs out there for nerve pain and was approved for diabetic neuropathy. Take care friend, hugs to ya, Debra V.
