Guest guest
I'm in some serious pain lately. I'd like to know if any of you have an idea. I'm fighting other medical issues as well as FM. I'm on Lyrica, Flexeril, Elmiron, Vistaril, Elavil, Singulair, prescription acne creme, and I also have Lortab for extreme pain. Oh, and daily doses of immodium, occasional doses of ibuprofen. I have FM, Interstitial Cystitis and Degenerative Disc Disease. I've recently been having horrible muscle jerks. I notice them from time to time during the day but truly notice them in the evenings while relaxing... or trying to... with a teenage daughter and a very active son... and I notice them a LOT at night while trying to sleep. I don't actually sleep. Ever it feels like. I know, I know, I'm a medical train wreck and I am all over the place. No sleep does that to a brain. I don't feel that my rheumatologist understands my bladder disease. He can't understand why I take the meds I do. I'm just in pain so much lately. I'd like opinions on - if you were me - what would you do next? Stand in the doctor's office and scream or just have myself committed? Thanks, . Guest guest
, On the bladder issues. Tell your regular doctor instead of your rheum. Start there. Mine sent me to a urologist. I wound up having surgery by both my urologist and gyn. On the jolts and jerking; I have no answers there. The fill-in doc for my rheum said they are usually withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants. Even if you miss a dose. Thanks guy, but that's not it for me. Anyway, I shared it just in case. Take some comfort in that I have them too and I have no answers either. I acquired some persistent twitches of late; most noticable in my hands. On the all over pain; given your master bedroom also has a bathroom; this should suffice the teenager issue as well. A very large lock on the bedroom door. Stereo just loud enough to drown out any " mom? " sounds from outside the door. Candles and a bottle of wine next to a hot bubble bath. Repeat as needed. Oh and it is also highly recommended to lock husband or significant other out during this time as well. Seriously, I use the hot tub for that all over want to scream or cry pain. Hot shower will suffice. I'm DOWN to 3 teenage girls now so feel free to vent anytime. Guest guest
, It sounds like you have RLS (restless leg syndrom). See if you can get som meripex from you dr. My neurologist is rxing it for me. My rls is way down and I have little problem from it now. I have so many chronic conditions that thr judge and dr and my ssdi hearing gave me the award for taking the most meds they had ever seen. I'm hoping if I am awarded it I hope to reduce some of the meds. The pain from the fibro and ddd is another story. I use a tens machine, a muscle stimulator, bathes and showers. Exercise in a theraputic pool (the temp is warmer) is helpful. You can swim or exercise. Sometimes I like to just stretch out those muscles and use a noodle to suport myself. Just some ideas. I know sometimes cold works as well. I also use Fibromyalgia O24 in the summer because I found the ingrediants make me too cold in the winter. Lidoderm patches also are very helpful especially if my stomach (IBS and lactose intollerant) is irratated. Just some ideas. Guest guest
Hi , The only thing I can that has helped with my muscle jerks. Is check and see if you have sleep apnea. Also and I hate to say this but Baclofin, a muscle relaxer in the evening and 2 at night for me, helps. I hate to say it because I too take a lot of different meds. One more pill or suppliment and I'll choke for sure. Hope it helps, Jan > > I'm in some serious pain lately. I'd like to know if any of you have > an idea. Guest guest
They do still make valium right? The best thing I think I ever did with my kids was showing them an article about how their brain is not fully developed yet. The part that is not yet fully developed is the part that has judgement, short term memory, etc. Then I told them that's why they still need me. LOL. It still doesn't work all the time; but it helps. You don't have those " how could you do something so stupid " fights. Guest guest
Hi , Your muscle jerks, do you feel like you are a puppet and someone is pulling your legs and arms really hard? That happened to me and my whole body tremors alot. My pain doctor put me on Zanaflex for night time and it helps me sleep. Only a urologist is going to understand your IC. Guest guest
Thank you to all who helped. I feel beter knowing that I'm not a nut, I'm not imagining this, I'm not alone!! WOOHOO!!! Almost makes me want to dance! ALMOST. I am still in pain. And someone commented on the antidepressant withdrawl. I have a new GP and told her I feel too doped up on my wellbutrin. I was on 300 mg. I was on 200 mg for a week and now on 100 mg for a week. I am going to try it without any antidepressants. My children may not like that (nor my hubby), but I'd like to try. I feel that it's been so long since I wasn't taking anti-depressants. I'll let you all know how that goes..... As for my muscle jerks, I neglected to say that they are in my arms, hands and back. Strange. Too bad I can't blame my poor typing on the muscle jerks, huh? I just can't keep up with my brain some days. I was sewing at a friends house, we're both quilters, and she saw how much my hands were bothering me. She dipped my hands into some parafin wax and wrapped them in towels. OMG! It was wonderful. I want one for my entire body! Whomever said that only my Uro would understand my IC, well, unfortunately, you're right. The Uro's here in Mtn. Home are jerks so I have to drive 3 hours South to Little Rock. Thank God I found Dr. B. I've onlt seen him once. His nurse fills prescriptions for me monthly. He understands how bad the drive is and how badly I stress over making that drive. Now, onto my Emilee. She's actually not a bad teenager. I've only had one bout of " Teenager stupidity " from her. Not too bad, I think! We are strict parents. We must be really mean, too, becase the kids get up at 5:00 to get horses fed and watered before they come in and get ready for school and head to the bus stop. Emilee is so smart, too. She's very involved with FFA. She's leaving today after school to boro (or is it Fayetteville?) and will be home tomorrow evening. She's been on meat team, livestock judging, and this trip is for horse judging. She's fought to keep her grades up becasue of her involvement with FFA. She also barrel races, and shows in Western Pleasure horse shows. ... well, he wears me out. He is 10 and is a Jr. Bull Rider. He rode bareback bronc last year as well. He eats, sleeps, and breathes bull riding. He's actually really good at it, too. He won last weekend and took home $ for the first time. He's so excited! I'm happy for him. He loves it and I don't want to take that away from him. Anyway, my brain is all over. Ummm... FM. I'm still in a lot of pain. I think that a massage is in order. That, and a nap. Thanks to all. . > > I'm in some serious pain lately. I'd like to know if any of you have > an idea. I'm fighting other medical issues as well as FM.
