Guest guest
Cheryl, I can't speak for the Cymbalta as I don't take that. I was on lyrica with hideous results, so my pulmonologist, when he found out it was going to be a month before I saw a new rheumy, gave me an older med, neurontin (I take 900 mg a day total). I still ache a little, but its because I can't take ultram as allergic to codeine, can't take hydrocodone because I'm allergic to that and I don't like taking darvocet unless absolutely necessary. Anyhow, until I see my new rheumy, I am taking tylenol arthritis. It's not much, but I can function somewhat and am not lying around writhing in pain! Hope that helps and welcome to the FaMily! Guest guest
Hi Cheryl - I take Cymbalta and feel it does a pretty good job on my depression. Neurontin is one of several meds for " anti-seizure " but are also used to help block the pain signal pathways. I did not tolerate Neurontin well myself. I think it was too much brain fog from it. If you can tolerate it, I would say stick with it, because other options like Lyrica are way more expensive. HTH. Take care. Jeanne in WI Hi! I was newly diagnosed approximately 3 months ago. My doctor has me on Cymbalta - 60 mg day and Neurontin - 600 = 4 times a day. Has anybody has any luck with the above medications? I've never taken Cymbalta so I can't help you with that. I did great on Neurontin - as long as I used the name brand and not the generic form, gabapentin. The generic didn't give me pain relief and made me suicidal. I've been switched to Lyrica now and am doing even better. Sorry I don't really have much information for you. Guest guest
I've been on Cymbalta forever, but not Neurontin. For me Lyrica, Ultram, and Topomax seem to be working fairly well. Guest guest
Hi, Cheryl -- I've been on Neurontin 600mg up to 4x day for some time now. Not sure whether I noticed a real diff going to generic or not -- maybe I just got used to it!! I started taking it for neuropathic pain long before the FM was added to dx, but have gotten much better use of it w/o the side effects I ran into with Lyrica. I was also put on Cymbalta 120 mg w/in the last 6 mos and taken off Zoloft (daughter and I both like the cymbalta better) & get better relief with it. Both can make you tired. I take my cymbalta at bedtime -- just wish I actually got to sleep more!! Cheryl M. > > Hi! I was newly diagnosed approximately 3 months ago.
