Guest guest
Your doctor is correct, your husband can use up to 12 weeks of FMLA leave to help care for you. However, be aware that FMLA is usually UNPAID leave. And, it IS LEGAL for companies to make you use your vacation, personal days, sick days etc before they have to approve the FMLA leave. Instead of your husband missing so much work, have you two thought about hiring someone to help you around the house, running errands and appointments and with the kids?? An older lady who has retired might be interested in a part time job like that for a couple of hours a day or maybe even a college student. Good luck N. > > ok, I believe i posted this to my other fibro group and dident recieve > any responce, if it was here Im sorry for reposting. I have to give a > little history. I also had it for my dad when he was diagnosed with liver cancer and given 6months to live, but sadley lost my job b/c i fell last May and screwed my shoulder up, and haven't been able to work since! Guest guest
, it sounds like you are in some difficult circumstances. I have never dealt with FMLA. But it is legal. I don't think they pay you for the time missed and I THINK it has to be time that is not broken up into certain days. I believe that what I have read, that they have to guarantee him a job when he returns to work but it does not have to be the same position. But I think the time has to be granted in a lump sum of time and not granted here and there for appointments and such. (I am not sure). I guess there is no way to have anyone else that can take you to the doctor and help with the children. You certainly have your hands full honey with that many children who are so young. I hope something works out. I know that is so difficult. hugs, Debra V. Guest guest
- Yes, he should definitely fill out the paperwork for the FMLA. This will save his job. My hubby does this for his work as well. It is the whole reason the FMLA was passed. It's not just for weeks of absence, but also those day to day needs. The paperwork is a pain, because it has to be repeated annually, but hey, anything to keep his job protected. HTH.
