Guest guest
I have the DDD in 3 lower back discs. Was also advised to probably never have surgery. Was told that with FM, I'd just be relocating the area of muscle fatigue and pain. As I've become more accustomed to sitting up with good posture (after spending 18 months in bed or recliner), my back is getting stronger. I have less of the painful spasms. Sounds like you've gotten good advice from that doctor, . Sucks to live with it, but sometimes there is no other choice. Jeanne in WI I went to -the- back specialist, Dr Carl Swan. It cost me $400.00 for a 15 minute consultation. He's very realistic and does not lean towards surgery to correct the problem, in his words, " I can take you out in the waiting room right now and show you several of my patients that have had 1 or more back surgeries and are no better off today " . His advice, live with it as best you can. My herniation is directly on the spinal cord, corrective surgery is too risky and the risk of paralysis is too high for me to go through with.
