Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to a wonderful, supportive, friendly and fun group. My name is and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 7 years ago at the age of 19. It came on while I was away at college. Let me tell you, college is not condusive to learning to live with illness. I was lucky that I was diagnosed within 2 months but it took me almost 4 years to really get to a good place. I was able to stay in school fulltime even though my grades suffered at first. I was able to use my psychology classes to really delve into research on the illness and also use my creative writing classes to express myself (those are my degrees). My now finace has been with me thru it all and although he doesn't always get it he does his best to help me out. I am able to work fulltime which is not always the case with this illness. I have to take full advantage of sick days and can't afford to waste them if I'm only having a minor flare up which can be hard. One of the biggest things I am grateful for is that God has given me the attitude that I was glad to have a name for what I was feeling and said, " okay now what... " as in what can I do to feel better. I try not to dwell on it and I am very greatful my symptoms have been mild. I do have my days of aw d@mn! So now that I've rambled on and said hi and probably told you more than you wanted to know I hope to be able to come on here if not daily at least a couple of times a week. Life is busy with work and planning my wedding in October but that just means when I flare I'm going to need more support than usual! Guest guest
Welcome ! Bless your heart, you are so young to have come down with this lovely wonderful beast of a disease. At least you got dx'd early; I know that many folks (myself included) went years and years before we got a name for what was ailing us. I am out on medical disability, but it was actually because of recurring bronchitis. I have since added COPD, Type 2 diabetes, fibro and a blood clot to my other chronic ailments. One doctor even put in his report that I was " textbook clinically depressed " ..... As you have a wedding, make sure you are allowing sufficient time to get stuff done! We don't want you flaring before the big day!!! Darlene > > Hi Everyone, > > I just joined yesterday and I finally have a moment to sit down and > say hello.
