Jeanne,

Does the lactose formula really work? As you know I've had a terrible

problem with the diarrhea for a long time even before my revision from Dr.

Oh. I'd love to find something that works. I've had it under better

control by keeping to a more Atkins type diet. and the iron supplements help

too.

Subject: Diane/Crohn's

Time for another commercial. I have been using products by the brand name

called Digestive Advantage. I started with their lactose intolerance

formula, and am now using their IBS formula. It seems to be helping. I am

having fewer days of IBS-D.

They also have a formula for Crohn's. You may want to consider trying it. We

now return you to your regular programming....

Well, it was hard to tell at first. I'd have a couple better days, then it

would kick in again. I take it twice a day, as it says some people will have to

in order to get the benefit. I'm able to eat cheese and butter again. I know

these stimulant meds I've been trying have been a big trigger of the IBS-D.

I've been on Concerta now for 7 days. The " D " hit on day 3 and 4. The past

couple days I've gotten back on track with supplements and protein drinks and my

bowels are normal. So maybe I'll be able to stick with this stimulant if

everything continues as is. Knock on wood.

So, as in everything, YMMV. But it might be worth trying. It's expensive,

though, so that's a factor as well. Take care.

Hi Jeanne,

First I'll show my ignorance. What is YMMV?

I have been having a bad flare with my IBS and the big D for a longer period

than usual for me. It is really limiting my leaving the house and I don't leave

much anyway.

I stay away from lactose and roughage like I have for years. I stay away from

junk food and fast food. But it's gotten where I can't eat unless I'm home. I

mean eat almost anything.

I'm under a lot of stress with money problems in addition to health issues. I

can't remember if it's still believed that stress is a trigger for IBS or not.

Is it?

Also I have to take liquid vitamins if I want them to be digested. Iron

supplements do a real number on me so I can't take them, but I don't really need

them. Well I guess I could maybe take iron if it was a liquid. I don't know.

TTFN,

Marti

YMMV is urban slang shorthand for the phrase " Your mileage may vary "

meaning that your results may vary from the results of the person

posting the message.
