i tried them all, bad side effects, the only one i take and take

almost everyday is MACROBID.

i have 3 kidney disorders, but the nephrologist claims the kidney

disorders aren't causing uti's, so maybe the bladder muscle spasms

caused by fibro are causing uti's, noone can tell me for sure, all i

know is i can't stop taking macrobid for long, or i start feeling

alot worse.

take care,

Lots and lots of cranberry juice. And if your problem is getting your urine

to pass, or if it is too painful to urinate, you may want to ask your Dr.

About self catheterizing.

I know that may sound scarry but if your having a lot of pain with urinating

then the catheter will help...at least it always helped me.

Another trick I learned is to take a long warm bath and try to urinate

while your sitting in the tub...this also helps with the pain.

Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon.

had UTI for over month. I have tried Flagyl, Cipro 7 & 10 day, and this

last one BactrimDS. Also taking Pyridium to get thru pain. Anyone had

this before and how did you cope? I am desperate!!!

1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list

as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your

dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well

as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.

2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't

be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that

situation better.

3. To unsubscribe the e-mail is:

4. Also, it is not uncommon for more than one member to be feeling bad at

the same time when it comes to flares and b/c of that potentially take

something another member says the wrong way. And that includes the things

that one member may find funny (even if it's laughing at fibro itself) even

though we who deal with illness whether one such as fibro or multiple

illnesses try to keep a sense of humor.

5. Pls let's be gentle with each other, and if you are having a bad day pls

let us know so that we can do our best to offer our support.

Have a nice day everyone.

I looked this up in DR. T's book. He recommended going on ichelp.com Maybe you

can find some help/answers there. Good luck!

pomegranate/cranberry juice also which helps.

One thing I would suggest before taking the warm bath is to

thoroughly clean the tub (which is how I have to take baths - take a

shower first, then clean the tub, THEN take the bath). But if your

UTI is causing pain, a warm bath would help. I also have to take

macrobid for mine but they generally clear up just fine.

Take cranberry capsules or drink lots of cranberry juice. also make sure you

get plenty of water in you. I hope this helps some. I do not have these

issues much, but it is what I would do.

Has your doctor cultured out a specimen to see if something else is

causing it? Or sent you to a urologist for a cystoscope to see if

there are small stones that could be causing the infection? Just some

more thoughts from someone who used to have UTIs very frequently. I

had all that testing done and ended up being on a prophylactic (sp?)

dose of an antibiotic for a month. After that month, I was checked

again and guess what? I was clear and haven't had any issues since!
