Guest guest
Hi Everyone My name is Meachelle and I am based in the UK. Thanks for letting me join the group I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as yet but my doctor feels i might have it and reading your posts my symptoms seem to match some that you suffer from. I hope you don't mind me being here even though I have not got my full diagnosis yet but perhaps if I tell you something about myself it might help you all to decide. I have been suffering with chronic pain since 2002 when i had a fall and landed on my coccyx and injured my back. Since then i have had two operations on my lumbar spine including a fusion and been diagnosed with spondyolosis of the cervical and lumbar spine. It is also thought that i might have arachnoiditis and i am under investigation to see if i also have fibromyalgia ( though i am in the early stages of this). A lot to deal with on my own ( though family are supportive) hence me joining the group as well as gaining information and advise. I have watched what has been said for a few days and it appears that this is a very supportive group and one that I feel i could be apart of. Well that's my story in short, Wish you all a great day Meachelle

Guest guest
Hi Meachelle, Well, I really hope you do not have fibro! Which dr. is trying to diagnose you? Have you heard of Milnacipran? It's an antidepressant that is supposed to really help chronic pain in fibro patients. It has not been approve here in the US, but is in the UK. The FDA is in the process of evaluating it for use here. It's supposed to be the next " wonder " drug for fibro. Maybe your dr. could go ahead a prescribe it for you. I'm so desperate, I've been thinking of ordering it online, but it's expensive without insurance. I've been diagnosed with spondylosis of the cervical and lumbar spine too, but I'm so overwhelmed with how many different diagnoses I have, I never looked even looked to see exactly what it is. What in the world is arachnoiditis? It sounds like a spider syndrome.....haha! That's great you have a supportive family! Many people don't, which makes it so much harder to deal with the fibro. Let me know if you've heard of the Milnacipran.......... Jill Newbie-Meachelle Hi Everyone My name is Meachelle and I am based in the UK. Guest guest
Hi Jill My own GP who is very supportive believes I have fibro but he is waiting on the last lot of blood tests before sending me to the specialist at the hospital for a proper diagnosis. To be honest I think he is right as all the tests so far show no inflammation of the muscles or anything else that might be an indication for the pain. No i haven't heard of that drug but will check it out. I recently withdrew from cymbalta as it was making me fall asleep during the day in mid conversion I will ask the pain specialist about it when i see her ( my GP wont prescribe new ones have to wait for her but that is months away). The other issue is if i can take it on top of the meds i am on now. I take MST, Lyrica and Baclofen. TI know what you mean about being overwhelmed with all the conditions and seems that most chronic pain suffers may have more that one condition that is causing the pain. As for arachnoditis it is basically where the nerves are clumping together. I have included a site below for anyone who is interested in knowing more about it. http://www.theaword.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 Thanks for the reply and hope you have a good day with your fibro all xxx From: jill larion Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 12:47 AM To: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group Subject: Re: Newbie-Meachelle Hi Meachelle, Well, I really hope you do not have fibro!
