As long as you don't say anything about having fibro, then they will try to help you more than they will if you say you have fibro. If you say you have fibro, then they are going to think that you are an addict and are just there to get drugs. Unfortunately that is what most of us are faced with. I hope that this helps. Good luck. Guest guest
Is it your headache that hurts so bad or the costchondritis? When I had chest pain I was given steroids and pain meds. Have you tried motrin or advil? Heating pads also help. If you go to the er do not mention fibro. Just tell them about your headache and chest pain. Are you sure the chest pain is not cardiac related? Also, there are meds out there that work better for headaches than Demerol. Good Luck! Jill Has anyone ever been to the ER for pain? I have had a headache for the past three days that has kept my in bed. Along with it, I have had check pain (Costochondritis). I was given 100Mg demerol on Monday to take at night, buit it is not working I am scared as it hurst so much but feel like an idiot. I have a appt with a pain management doctor, but that is only for a consulation. As you can see, I can not sleep the apin is so bad. We have a small hopspital in Brockport, about 10 miles from my home. I am thinking about gining there tomorrow as I can not take the any linger. What would they do for me? Any ideas? I know I am new and I hate like I am whining a lot. That is not really who I am, but the pain is making me into someone I do not like. Guest guest
Missy, it is a really unpredictable thing. SOME docs and medical personnel do believe that fibro is a real illness. ALOT don't. But it wont hurt you to go and try. Just keep your guard up and prepare in case they treat you like a drug seeking lunatic. I went once to an E.R. for pain. It was about a week or so before I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. So, I never said the word " Fibromyalgia " , because I did not know what was wrong. My hands were hurting so bad for several weeks that I could not do anything but cry. I could not sleep or work or do anything. I went to an E.R. at 3am once with that. I told them how bad my hands were hurting and I did not even ASK for pain medicine. I ASKED for a steroid injection because I thought it was some kind of inflammation. They treated me like a drug addict that just walked in off the street. I looked horrible because I had not slept in days. I had been dealing with the pain constantly. I did not fix myself up to go there (my hair or makeup). So I LOOKED pretty damn bad. They hurt my feelings so bad that I was crying worse than I was when I got there. But just prepare for what kind of response you MIGHT get. And then go on and go. The worse they can do is NOT help you. love and hugs, my heart is with you honey, Debra V. missy8632 missy8632@...> wrote: I have had a headache for the past three days that has kept my in bed. Guest guest
Missy, My doctor gives me an injection when I have a migraine, in her office. It knocks it down so that it is manageable and then it doesn't last as long. If you have a migraine for that long, I would call the doctor. Have you tried heat on your head??? Like a heating pad very low??? That seems to help or at least feel good. Don't you worry about complaining, that's what we all do here. Take care, /Mi Has anyone ever been to the ER for pain? Guest guest
Please go to the ER. Head aches that last that long could indicate someting serious. Until you are diagnosed with migraines it it wise to make sure that is what you are experiencing. I have been in bed sick for 2 to 3 days with them also. For me this is the worse pain imaginable to have to deal with on top of everything else. Teri from MI > > Missy, > My doctor gives me an injection when I have a migraine, in her office. Guest guest
Thank you very much for your replies. I broke down and went Friday morning. It is amazing how fast they treat you when you tell them you are having chest pain and a headaches. The doctor was very nice. He Dx me with that Condo thing (infalmation of the breast bone.) I got a shot of duladid and a Rx for Vicoden and a musle relaxer. Both of which do shit. I see my pain specialist on Monday. Please send a prayer that he does not turn me away and we come up with a plan. I would like to be hooked up to a morphine drip 24/7, but that is wishful thinking.
