Guest guest
Bummer, Debra B. Glad you survived your ordeal. Hope you can get into surgery quick and get those discs fixed. Take care. I get terrified of being put in that tube and have to have a washrag to cover my eyes. I normally am able to position my arms to where I am comfortable but this time the attendant advised to to place them beside me. Guest guest
Debra - I'm so sorry to hear about your pain and your horrible MRI experience. Yes, definitely go with open MRI from here on out. My MRI last year was done open and I liked it so much better. I'm not claustrophobic, but those tubes are confining, plus our clinics use a traveling MRI scanner that is in a truck, so you have to go outside to the truck for the scan. Going to the open MRI place was so much nicer and they gave me my films to take with me when I left. So now I have my own copy to show to any doc that wants to see. I pray that you're able to get the treatment or surgery that you need to fix everything. Take care. Jeanne in WI Good Morning to All, A couple of days ago I began with a slight pain in my right hip. Then it slowly progressed and the pain is just unbearable. My pain doctor ordered and MRI for my thorasic and lumbar area of my back to see if there were any additional problems that have come up as well as an xray of my right hip. The MRI was HORRIBLE!! I get terrified of being put in that tube and have to have a washrag to cover my eyes. I normally am able to position my arms to where I am comfortable but this time the attendant advised to to place them beside me. I am a large woman to begin with and the way he had me put my arms it was a tight fit. I made it through the MRI and as they were bringing me out my skin was sticking to the side of the tube and I began to scream and panic. I thought I am stuck in here and they will not be able to get me out. I began to have a panic attack and the fear of dying in there. They brought me out the other end and I thought okay I am getting off this table, but no, they wrapped my arms in a sheet and told me to lay still and they were going to send me back through. I was still crying at this point. They began to pull me through and I made it out the other end then I started trying to get off the table and since I was flat on my back for about 45 minutes my back was " frozen " I couldn't get up. It took 3 MEN to get me off the table and I was in extreme pain. It was the most horrible experience I have ever been through in my life. IF I have another MRI I will request the open MRI....I AM NOT going back in that tube for NO reason! I asked one of the guys if the herniated disc was any worse and his reply was " which one " . OH CRAP!!! That means I have more than the one that has been giving me pain. If I do have more than one, they are just going to have to do surgery and fix all of them....bottom line!!! This just can't be happening to me at all!! I then had to make my way to xray where they put me yet on another table and xrayed my hip. I hurt so bad after leaving that place I couldn't stand it. But, I did bring my pain meds with me and boy did I start taking them as soon as I got in the car. ha! So now not only do I have the one in L4 and 2 in my neck but I probably now have them in my thorasic!!! GREAT!!! It seems that I can't win for losing some days but I am not going to let it get me down. Thanks for letting me vent and for all the wonderful support I receive from each of you! Guest guest
Debra B, I'm sorry about the MRI, it is a scary thing. I thought I would freak out, but I did okay, they had air blowing on my face and I kept my eyes closed. Don't care to have another one any time soon though. I hope they can give you some relief somehow. Hugs, /Mi Fibro/Back Pain/Hip Pain Good Morning to All, A couple of days ago I began with a slight pain in my right hip. Guest guest
Debra, I had a similar experience and the guy doing the MRI had had one as well so he was very sympathetic to me so please don't feel bad about your reaction. This is quite common. My neighbor and friend had an even more horrible experience in which they LEFT the room for 20 minutes while she was freakin out in there! And she's a nurse! Boy did they get an earful when they came back in there.
