Guest guest
Some of you have heard that I slipped on the ice last night while walking to dinner. If that sounds painful, good, it was. Still is really. You'll think I'm psycho but I did walk the three quarters of a mile down to the restaurant with my right knee hurting a bit about half way and still a little stiff the rest. After dinner we started back and the pain was terrific but again lessened about half way (and this was up hill). Fast forward to this morning. My PCP, whose specialty is Internal Medicine ironically, called me back and told me a few things, most good news. 1. Verified that I can't take NSAIDS which would really help in this situation. How nice. 2. Said it didn't sound like I did permanent or really long term bad damage. Good news. 3. Said I SHOULD actually use the knee and keep moving. Weird okay. 4. Said I should ice it for the first 48hrs but no more than 20 minutes a day or every 12 hrs or something like that. Again, weird but okei dokei. 5. When I am sitting I should have me knee elevated above my heart. I confirmed that it's okay to not have it that way at work. I probably could massage work into time off at home logged in remotely with that excuse but then I wouldn't be using it. I might get some sympathy at work too. 6. The swelling will run a 10 day course and could get more pronounced in the coming days. Well that's fun. 7. Tylenol will help the pain only not swelling. Really? I've been taking extra strength and it's done only a little bit pain reduction wise but we'll keep that up. Of course I was waiting for the doctor to say, " Oh my God you walked on it you fool! " At least that didn't happen. I should still be able to get a good week of sympathy off this. On the bright side I now have an excuse to not dance with my date next Saturday. Oh maybe I could tell her that it's hurting a bit and we need to go back to my place and lie down? Such a DOG!! Nah I can probably slow dance or something by then. Whatever it's all good. Guest guest
I have shoulder issues and my doctor said to keep it moving. If I don't use it it could get " stuck " and require surgery. Guest guest
Poor baby. I would think that moderate use would be more prudent. An injury needs a certain amount of rest to recover. Or is that old-fashioned now?! Hugs, D. Mike websculpt@...> wrote: Some of you have heard that I slipped on the ice last night while walking to dinner. If that sounds painful, good, it was.
