Guest guest
Angie - interesting that you should mention walking away from a job. If you want to email a response privately to me, I understand unless you don't mind answering here, unless you prefer not to divulge. What did you do for income after the job walk away? The reason I'm asking is I work a 25 hour shift from home doing transcription, plus they put on another 10 to 15 hours of extra file work on me a week. So I'm basically working full time but without the perks of full time benefits. It's killing me. That doesn't even count having to do any housework/getting groceries, etc. I am seriously considering quitting and filing for SSD but need to do some more research on how to go about it. Not only for the fibro, but I have degenerative disk disease, an end stage herniated disk which the neurosurgeon says I'm a perfect candidate for a fusion but won't do it because it will exacerbate my fibro, bipolar with depression, anxiety attacks and IBS. I've bookmarked a number of links that everyone has posted and am researching the whole thing. But am wondering what do to in the meantime for cash flow. Hubby works but don't know if we can make all our bills on his income alone. From what I understand you're not supposed to be working prior to applying. Is that right? In any case, pretty soon I'm not going to have a choice - like I said, working is killing me. And it sucks because I actually have a job that I love but as it always seems to happen - something else intervenes and I am s**t of out luck. I'm almost to the point where I'm ready to just quit and if they send us to collection for medical bills or whatever else, well, I guess that's what will happen. What good are paid bills going to do us if I'm totally incapacitated from trying to bust my butt working? Teri (central Wisconsin) Re: Why Do " Friends " Not Believe Us I know exactly what you mean. My mother was telling people behind my back that there was nothing wrong with me. That I was just lazy and didn't want to work. I left a job I had for 15 years that paid me almost $15 an hour with great medical and other nice benefits. It killed me to walk away from that job because of my illnesses. We don't ask to have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue. We don't ask to have severe depression or lupus or anything else. And you are right. If they don't have this debilitating chronic pain, they just don't understand. Angie in Arizona
