i was reading an article on one of the narcotic pain meds mentioned to

ask my doc about, it explained about psychological addiction (for a

high) vs physical dependance (for real pain)...and docs don't know the

difference? this online article actually said that. i hardly doubt

docs, who passed med school, would not know the obvious difference

between the two. i still believe they play stupid or call us drug

addicts just so they won't have to write scripts.

which is negligence!

take care,

marg

According to my doctor there is a very fine line between the two. I

have been very lucky to find good doctors that treat me well and

continue to give my same pain meds. They do drug testing to be sure I

am taking them and not selling them, and that I am not taking any other

drugs not given to me. A good doctor will know the difference between

an addict and a person who has become dependant on the meds. When you

come off the meds from being on them for a long time you will have

withdraw symptoms but not as bad as a drug addict will. I knew a lady

who was addicted to pain medications a normal person will only take one

pain pill to make the pain go away but she would take 4-5 vicodins at a

time for this reason she would have much worse symptoms then a person

who was in pain and taking one at a time.

Doctors are too scared to do anything for fear of being sued.

People are so willing to blame someone for every little thing and

wants money for it. So, those who do need help can not get it b/c the

docs are afraid. So sad.
