Guest guest
Hi Kathy, The protein is important, but I tend to get meats like turkey or chicken because they are so much lower in fat. I prefer the Subway club with lettuce, tomato, onions, sweet peppers, black olives and mustard. I usually get a foot long and eat part and save the rest for later on. Lin 422-338-250 Lhsh@... Re: diet,, yes or no...........Subway, Mike in GR........` Hi Mike, Presently when I go to Subway, I get the Italian BMT, double meat and double provolone cheese, a little lettuce and tomato, and oil and vinegar. I wonder how much protein is in the meat, or is the meat a bad thing because of how salty the meats on it are. Right now, I don't care, but I will have to care and make adjustments really soon! Guest guest
That is why I normally stick to the single meat and if I have cheese, I tend to stick to the white cheeses and definitely don't do mayonnaise or oil. Most restaurants like that put way too much mayo on the sandwiches and I have found that the oil makes the sandwich really soggy by the time I get it home and eat it. Lin 422-338-250 Lhsh@... Re: diet,, yes or no...........Subway, Mike in GR........` http://tinyurl.com/dyv2r Ok your sandwich has: 450 calories 21g of fat 8g of saturated fat 0 trans fat 55mg of cholesterol 1790mg of sodium 47g carbs 4g of dietary fiber 8g of sugar 23g of protein 10% Vit A 40% Vit C 15% Calcium 25% Iron Chicken Breast has: 330 calories 5g of fat 1.5g of saturated fat 0 trans fat 45mg of cholesterol 1020mg of sodium 47g carbs 4g of dietary fiber 9g of sugar 24g of protein 6% Vit A 35% Vit C 6% Calcium 25% Iron Now, and this is key, The Chicken Breast information does NOT include cheese while I think the BMT one does. It's my guess that the addition of cheese to the Chicken one would kick it up to be about the same as the BMT except that the chicken breast might have more protein too. Also the chicken breast might have slightly less fat and sodium although I can't really tell not knowing what the cheese has in it. I wonder if the oil adds fat to yours too maybe. Double meat probably kicks them both up a good 150-200 calories. I personally would recommend against the double cheese although I admit to being tempted. The pepper jack puts enough of a kick of flavor in where I've been ok with single cheese. So if you figure I'm pulling in 650 calories on a double meat with cheese chicken breast that's quite a lot. But I usually only have 250 calories for lunch and probably only 1500 calories the total of the rest of the day. I figure so long as I stick to around 2000-2500 a day I'm doing well. Hell I used to eat 2-3 times that and had no physical activity. The biggest thing to remember about eating something like subway is that if you do go and get double meat or double cheese or both you're adding quite a lot of calories and higher amounts of fat and sodium. Also, don't even think about mayo. You'd think they'd offer fat free mayo there.
