Guest guest
I have numbness along outside of each leg, worst on the right side. Don't notice it though unless I touch that area. It just feels different. Very hard to describe. When I had a job working on my feet, I would get the burning, searing pain in these muscles. It got better when I quit working on my feet, but the numbness has never left. A PT showed me once, how pushing on the hip trigger point could cause the numbness down the outside of the leg. So my theory is that this is a fibro thing, since I've had it for 13 years now and my low back scan showed nothing either then. I do have diagnosed DDD in the lumbar spine, but this leg numbness thing has been going on longer than that. In the side of my leg sometimes R and sometimesL, my leg goes numb and it burns terribly, and sometimes it feels like someone is taking a knife and jabbing it into my leg! It usually takes a while for it to go away, and the only thing that seems to help is to rub it, if you can stand it, and to change the position of the leg. Thank goodness it doesn't happen everyday...Hope this helps Darlene or anyone else..... > > Wishing you All Gentle Hugs and Painless Days, > Take Care, > Pam
Guest guest
Hi, I too recently started having numbness in my left outer thigh. At times I could stab a fork into my thigh and not feel it. I have also the painful sensation as it is going numb or thawing out and sometimes feel like I have a cold pack on my thigh. Mostly it occurs while I am standing or walking. There is a name for this (if the numbness is only on the outer side of your thigh) it's called meralgia paresthetica. You can read about it here: http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic590.htm Gail
Guest guest
Gail, Thanks for the link; I'll check it shortly as I'm trying to cook dinner and also check email...hahhahaha... My reflexologist said that it also reflects an " issue " with L4 and to let my chiro know as there may be something going on there. Guest guest
Yes, this makes sense. The PT who created the sensation in my other leg, did it by pushing on the outer hip socket there. So that would of compressed this nerve group. Plus, I think this is where my DDD's are as well. Thanks for sharing this, Gail.
