Guest guest
I've been experiencing a horrific amount of swelling in my legs/feet and hands. To the extent and point that my PCP had me trying a 2nd diuretic at night (around 5-7pm) to see if that would help. So I got to looking over the list of meds I take and the ONLY thing new that I've added is the Lyrica. So I hit the LYRICA website to see what the side effects are.....hmmm, let's see - I have the blurred vision, extreme swelling of the hands and feet and weight gain (I have NOT increased my food intake as I am a diabetic) - like, I gained 4 lbs in 2 days? I look poofy and bloated and feel horrid because all the trigger areas are inflamed due to the swelling. I saw the PCP today for the swelling issue - they ran a slew of tests on me - kidneys are good, liver function is a little elevated but not enough to be concerned, heart enzymes and function is good too. We know I have a blood clot and am on coumadin for that and elevate my legs 3-4 hrs daily to try and help the swelling. Because of the coumadin, I cannot take any anti-inflammatories at all, they will contraindict each other (or something like that). She said the only thing I could take that might help is Tylenol arthritis. Hmmm.....have taken 4 so far today and they haven't done squat. Now the darvocet? It seems to be working just fine..... Anyhow, I believe I will be calling the rheum's office tomorrow to advise that I don't think Lyrica will be the answer for me and see what they want me to do because I know you cannot just " stop " taking it! Guest guest
Yeah, I am concerned about the same side effects. I have not experienced that yet but have only been on this medicaiton for 4 days. (Is the weight gain all water)?????? hugs, Debra V. ddean228 navydaisy228@...> wrote: I've been experiencing a horrific amount of swelling in my legs/feet and hands. Guest guest
Sorry the Lyrica is adding to your swelling problem, Darlene. I think you are correct to trust your instincts and speak to the doc about going off of it. Maybe a similar med might work, like Neurontin or Topomax? And the things with NSaids is they can thin your blood as well, so that's why they don't want you on them if you're already taking blood thinners. I hope you feel better soon.
