Jill,

It was a graveside service, which is what my grandfather wanted. He

was a month shy of being 100! What an awesome thing, huh?

He has two surviving children, my dad and an aunt who is in poor

health in NY (she's 76!). He has more grandchildren than I can count

or think about (each of my aunts were quite prolific; only my dad,

uncle and one aunt " capped " their kids - there are 3 of us, my one

aunt had 2 and the other had 3. He also has more great-grands and

great-great grands than I can absorb!

My dad spoke - it was hard for him and several times he cried - but

what he said was pretty powerful. And my aunt, who passed just last

month, had picked out grandpa's casket and it wsa a steel blue with

inserts that had pictures of a blue sky, clouds and a bird flying - I

immediately thought of " I'll Fly Away " .

Once my dad was done, our pastor said a few words and then we

sang " Amazing Grace " and then he prayed.

It was really nice overall, but the weather was horrid and I'm

praying that my asthma doesn't flare up!

(((Hugs)))
