Mag Oxide has less of a laxative effect. Magnesium Glycinate has less of a laxative effect than either. That's what I take. I take Magnesium Glycinate by Pure Encapsulations. My osteopathic doc's office sells it, but I get it from www.illnessisoptional.com. It's available elsewhere too. A word about calcium blood levels: it's hard to evaluate calcium levels by a blood test because the body will do anything to keep the blood level constant, including pulling calcium from the bones. The PTH is a blood test that is a ratio between calcium and vitamin D levels, I think, that helps to tell if the body is pulling calcium from the bones. If the PTH level is high, it generally means that either calcium or vitamin D are deficient. As always, we should talk to our docs about this.
