Let me run this idea by you and see what you think and don't have to

feel alone should you have a lengthy stay at the hospital.

Would you mind if some of the group members could write letters, post

cards, or a card in general either to your home or hospital room as a

means of staying in touch?

I do go through insomnia marathons during the wee hours of the morning

and don't mind sharing the events of the day with others.

That would be nice to have some form of outside correspondence. I did have a

laptop but one of the keys broke and I have no way of getting it fixed. It's

a shame because my husband bought it for me for these types of situations.

Once I know more of the doctors plans, after the May 6th appointment.

I have felt like crap all day since I didn't sleep last night. I don't know

how our bodies do this because even though I don't sleep at night I still do

not nap during the day. I average about 4 hrs a night. I have heard that not

sleeping makes fibro symptoms worse. Is that true?

I am so sorry you are having such a horrible time. If you do go to the

hospital....I'd be happy to correspond with you during your recovery....let me

know.and I'll keep you in prayer.

Scared and can't sleep.

I hate nights like this. It is now 3:20am and I am still awake. I try

to lay down and I just can't get comfortable enough to sleep. I guess

it doesn't help that I am afraid the cancer is back. I have a mass in

my abdominal wall and I go to town on May 6th to see the surgeon

that did my original cancer surgery. Went to see my family doc this

week and he said back up the road you go. He will not allow the local

surgeons to touch me. I hate the drive and I hate the idea of surgery

again. Last time I was in the hospital for months and my husband can't

drive in the city so I am usually up there by myself most of the stay.

The nurses are really nice and I do like the hospital I just wish it

was not so far away. Please keep me and my family in your prayers

I am so sorry to hear of this fear. It would cause me to lose sleep too honey.

I just really hope it is not cancer again. Maybe not. But if it is, take it a

day at a time and figure out the best options to fight it.

I always know that when I hear of problems such as this, that I am not in such a

bad boat after all. I deal with fibro everyday, but it would be much worse to

think of cancer as some of you deal with on this site.

hugs,

Absolutely true, specifically not reaching REM or rapid eye movement

or deep sleep.

Two important chemicals are released during REM:

1. Serotonin an important neurotransmitter, low levels are responsible

for the morning FibroFog and disorientation.

2. Human Growth Hormone, responsible for repair of damaged tissue.

Low levels of HGH slows the repair or recovery of injury.

People with Fibromyalgia typically have abnormal sleep patterns and

have difficulty reaching deep sleep.

My laptop was bought used so no warranty. I have tried a lot of sleep

medication even ambien. I had to have a sleep study done once and they gave it

to

me to help me fall asleep, well three hours later I was still awake. It blew

the lab techs mind. She was afraid I was going to be dead asleep by the time

she need to release me and was surprised when I woke up 4 hours later. My

doctor hates to give me much in the way in meds because after the lupus I have

had really weird side effects to a lot of meds. I am either supper sensitive

or no reaction to them.

Have you ever tried trazedone? Its a prescription, but I am like you

in the sense that ALOT of sleep meds are useless for me, but trazedone

really helped, and also helped me with depression.

On the non prescriptive side... My husband is an unreal insomniac...

he will be up for DAYS... anyways, we have tried alot of sleep aides,

and the one that really helped him was called MidNite. Its a

homeopathic remedy that CVS carries, and im sure other places do too,

but we always just go there. Its a melatonin based thing, and it

really has helped him. He has to take 2-3 of them, but he rests

deeply, and wakes up rested and happy, and its helped his mood ALOT. I

believe it also has lemon and chamomile in it, but melatonin has been

a life saver for him and sleeping. Its worked WAY better than any

prescriptive.

There are some options to repair a broken keyboard, among some of my

hobbies I became a major computer nerd.

Most keys can be fixed if the break was clean by using a dab of super

glue and a tooth pick, the keyboard can be replaced by a used one off

Ebay or computer parts reseller.

There are some detailed " take apart guides " on the internet that has

detailed photos on how to open most computers and replace components.

I can look around for replacement parts if you can give me the name, &

model number of the laptop.

Another option is if you can mail it to my location, I can most likely

get it repaired and send it back to you.

Laptops typically do not exceed 4lbs and should not be excessively

expensive to send through the post office.

I'm either taking the same brand or something really close to it.

It costs just over a dollar a box and lasts a week.

What a bargain!

A dollar and some change for a weeks worth of restful sleep.
