Guest guest
If it was me, in reality, I wouldn't spend it on anything. I'd put it in savings because it would have to make up the shortfall each month between my bills and the amount of the regular SSI check. N. Guest guest
Darlene, Un foruntaley I would have to pay all my unpaid bills.Hopefully I would be able to go out to eat at least once to a nice dinner either at golden corral or sagebrush.THe rest if any clothes shop foer myself.Della What would you do if.... Okay, thought of a topic we could all relate to, especially those of us who are on the SSD merry-go-round waiting for either decisions or hearings. So here goes - say you " win " and get a settlement and get started on the SSD, after any back payments to LTD providers and attorney's fees were paid, what would you spend the rest on? My list is as follows: 1. New bedroom suite - already picked out....envelope started 2. Temperpedic mattresses - I enjoy the memory foam *but* want the whole bed 3.. Add to the money market account 4. Add to the Christmas and vacation envelopes 5. Take my family out to a nice dinner and maybe a movie 6. Have a date night with my DH 7. Put the rest toward our debt snowball So what would you do? I know lots of us have back bills to pay and those are the obvious things we would likely let it go toward, but this is supposed to be " fun " things or things you've put off getting. Guest guest
Well I can't relate so much to the SSD. But, I think you are thinking wisely on it. Especially with putting some of it into investment and savings. I know one thing. You certainly deserve the SSD. I cannot think of a single person with fibromyalgia that does not deserve it. I am so glad it may be coming through for you honey. Hey, go to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy that massager thing they have. My husband looked at yesterday and tried it and said it is WONDERFUL. It fits on a chair or something and has rollers that massage you so good. I think it was about $200. Go check it out girl. I do know that we are all about to get a little tax rebate soon. (I say enjoy it, it is the last one we will ever get). LOL. love and hugs, Debra V. Subject: What would you do if.... Guest guest
Debra V, Beware of the roller thing. I bought it and the rollers are non adjustable and just plain hurt! I put several thicknesses of blanket over it and it still was like nasty. My back is still sore in spots. I sat in the one at the store too and it didn't feel that way. I don't know, maybe the rollers go down over time. I'm taking mine back. I have a spot on my back that is still tender and that was a week ago. As to the free money...we got our free money from the government!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo....I was so excited. However, it will take some thinking on how to spend it. Part of it will pay for the cottage we have rented for the week this summer. And I will get a good pair of tennis shoes so maybe my ankles will be better supported and the pain will be subdued. It's a good dilemma however!!! What would you do if.... I was fortunate in that I didn't have to get a lawyer, and mine was approved in a timely manner and with no hassle, but my LTD company was entitled to the whole back settlement, in exchange for paying me full benefits while I was waiting. So there was none left. I'm just very glad that there was no lawyer to take a cut and leave me owing a balance to the LTD company. The tax rebate, which I've yet to receive, has been long spent. I'm still waiting on a refund from a 2006 amended state return I filed. Nope. No ship coming in any time soon. BTW, my Medicare Part D plan initally denied my request for Celebrex. I sent them an 8-page fax requesting an expedited appeal. They approved it the same day they got the fax, but would not allow a tiering exception to reduce my copay, because I hadn't tried all of the other two zillion NSAID's out there. :::: rolling eyes :::: Two unsuccessful attempts were enough, thanks. I spent a lovely couple of hours outside with the birds and butterflies and azaleas, raking last fall's leaves out of my flowerbeds. It's a beautiful, bright, breezy day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So now I'm tired. Z
