Guest guest
I have been fighting with the doc's for over a year now about being diagnosed with Fibro. I would hear, " you MIGHT have it " , or " you COULD have it, but we aren't sure " or " we THINK it COULD be Fibromyalgia but we are going to check you for everything else first " . I got so tired of hearing all that that I quit going to doc's completely, well you all know what that did, nothing for the pain. Well I finally went back to my family doc yesterday because the pain got so bad and she FINALLY diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia on paper instead of beating around the bush like all the other doc's have done. She gave me some meds for the pain but I only take one a day for the first week, 2/day for the next week and the 3/day for the next week and then I need to go back and see her. I took my first one lastnight and within 2 hours my body had relaxed enough that I could sit on the couch and just chill and not be in tears from the pain. I woke up this morning in my normal pain so we will see how the day goes, I'm going to try to keep a positive attitude today so then hopefully it won't get so bad. For those that are having stressful days, I find what works for me is to lock myself in my bedroom with a good " chick flick " , I love girly movies and they seem to calm me down. If you can't do that just find a quiet spot and sit there for a few minutes and tell yourself, " I'm going to be fine, the stress is going to mellow out and I WILL get through this " , but you have to say it more than once, repeating it over and over again for a few minutes kind of convinces your mind that you can handle the stress. I have found if I do that it really helps on the days I can't hide in my bedroom, which with 5 kids, 4 of them living at home my " alone " moments don't happen often. I also envy those of you that can take long hot showers. I took a shower this morning and it wasn't as bad as the others have been but it still felt like my skin was being ripped off my body by the water. I can't wait to get my big bath tub, when I get the money to completely redo my bathroom, that's going to be a while. Take care everyone and I hope you all have a pain free day.
