Guest guest
Hi Teri. I don't mind replying here instead of in private. When I became ill, I took a medical leave from work. I got paid $150 week Family leave pay. That lasted 6 months. During those months, I also began getting $300 month back child support. My jerk of an ex-boyfriend conveniently got himself fired right after I got my medical leave. And he wouldn't go look for work. So, I still ended up losing my apartment and everything else I worked so hard for. I moved in with my daughter right after my family leave pay ran out and basically gave her all my back child support every month. Finally, I got my disability. It's hard. She's a single mother and she tries so hard. I wish there was some more money I could be bringing in. Angie in Arizona Re: Why Do " Friends " Not Believe Us I know exactly what you mean. My mother was telling people behind my back that there was nothing wrong with me. That I was just lazy and didn't want to work. I left a job I had for 15 years that paid me almost $15 an hour with great medical and other nice benefits. It killed me to walk away from that job because of my illnesses. We don't ask to have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue. We don't ask to have severe depression or lupus or anything else. And you are right. If they don't have this debilitating chronic pain, they just don't understand. Angie in Arizona
Guest guest
Angie - I'm glad he's an " ex " - I had a husband like that once too - he is also an " ex " . Hard enough to deal with everything else much less taking care of somebody like that too. Glad you got your disability. I'm in the beginning stages - am going to apply. I've been putting it off and putting it off thinking I can make it work, but have come to the conclusion there is no other answer. I'm killing myself working. Just doing stuff around the house is hard enough - throw in working, stress and everything else and I end up being totally worthless. There is so much information out there though, that it's overwhelming. I guess one step at a time. Not sure how we're going to do it financially though. My husband works but don't know if we'd be able to manage just on his income. I have read that you can make up to a certain amount of money (not a lot) but I'm not sure if that's prior to applying or while you are in the process of. I'll have to look that up too. Hope you have a good day. Teri (central Wisconsin) Re: Teri - Why Do " Friends " Not Believe Us Hi Teri. I don't mind replying here instead of in private.
