Guest guest
Nina, I love doing crafts; crochetting, knitting, cross stitch, jewelry making, (this craft saves me and my husband a lot of money). When my pain really acts up I find myself doing a lot of reading because I can't do the other crafts because the pain keeps me from doing that stuff. I love making jewelry and have thought about selling it but I put it in my yard sale last year and didn't sell but one necklace so that discouraged me but I know I make awesome jewelry because I have people admire it when I wear it. Oh, well. As far as the book goes, I would go for it. If it is something that has stuck with you then someone is trying to tell you to do it. Don't worry about what others think, if you like it that is what matters and if it is a fantasy book, I would love to read it. I mainly read Christian books but I also delve into the fantasy world and who-done-it books. I love trying to figure out who did the crime and my family will laugh at me when I start talking to the book...LOL > > I was wondering, how many of us have a creative hobby that keeps our > mind occupied, keeps us busy at times? > I have always been a want-to-be writer. Guest guest
I decided a few years ago to write about my father's life as I had met a distant cousin who really wished he had known him. I don't remember how much I wrote, but after proofing re spelling, etc. I mailed it to Jack. Since Jack has done some writing himself and is an attorney, he wrote back that he had enjoyed it but I needed to do some work to " tighten it up. " But I think it might help to take a writing class once we move. I also emailed what I had written to one of my sister's and she just had to correct me on so many things about our father's life, that I stopped. What was funny about some of her critism had to do with information I had pulled out of letters our grandmother had written to our father the last year of her life. But on the other hand, I do think that as siblings, we may all have different views or impressions, so I guess I should not have paid much attention to her critiques!!! But I did really enjoy searching for information and also the writing, and it was also a good escape that help put the fibro out of my mind for awhile. > > I was wondering, how many of us have a creative hobby that keeps our > mind occupied, keeps us busy at times? > I have always been a want-to-be writer. Guest guest
Nina, Never heard of a store called inspirations. But as for doing crafts etc, I do cross stitching, design and make quilts, started making jewelry (earrings right now), painted glassware, photography, and writing. Mostly poetry but I have a couple of ideas for a drama/crime novel. Have also been working for the past year on a non-fiction book. They are a great escape from the fatigue, pain and general craziness of everyday life. N.
Guest guest
Hey Nina, Follow your dream. As far as being afraid of someone reading it. Look at it like this. Most of the time you mail in the book to the publisher. You never meet them. They will mail an answer back. If your lucky it will be edited and critised so you have an idea on what you did right or wrong. If you're really lucky they will like the book. Bottom line you'll probably never see them again so who cares what they think. Also never try just one place. Lots of book writers send to hundreds of publishing companies before they are picked up. Also another note. You should never have to pay to be published. There are places that will do books for you of anything you want. I'm not saying it's a scam. It's a real business that will publish ( or print up ) X amount of books for people for fun. For instance a bunch of my grandmothers poems made in a book just for my relatives as a gift. I know some of this because a cousin of mine used to work for a publishing company. Some of it I heard on TV or some where. So if I'm wrong someone jump in and say, please. Do it. It sounds great. I like all kinds of books. I'm also like you. I can usually guess the end. My family gets mad. We make a game of it now. We write what we think will happen and then we see if we're right after the movie.
