Guest guest
Did they not give you a specific diet plan?? I have very specific instructions from the surgeon's office for what to eat and when. They even gave me an hourly schedule for every day. I am really concerned that you aren't getting enough protein. They want you to have a minimum of 64 oz of liquids and 70 g of protein per day. If you don't get this in, you'll likely feel weak and your body will break down muscle tissue to get the protein it needs to function. Not to mention, it will increase the likelihood that you will have issues (temporary) with hair falling out in 4-6 months. I had my surgery Monday and am now on " full liquids " . That includes cream soups (low fat) like cream of chicken, mushroom, cheese, etc. with NO solids. Strain them if necessary. I can also have runny mashed potatoes, runny cream of wheat, SF jello, SF pudding, SF yogurt, SF fudgesicles, SF popsicles, and things like that. I don't like the amount of sugar in the carnation instant breakfast so I have purchased a lot of protein supplements that you mix up like the Carnation but they only have 0-3 g of sugar. You can go to www.vitalady.com, www.bethsproteinboutique.com, and www.bariatriceating.com to order individual samples to try the various brands and flavors. If you find one you like, you can buy if from them in a 3-5 pound container or try www.bodybuilding.com. They are often cheaper. It is good to have those because it can be very difficult to get enough protein even in the later stages of the diet. I also have some unflavored protein powder to add to foods or fluids to make sure I get enough protein. After 2 weeks of the " full liquids " I move to the pureed stage. It includes pureed meats (but they need to be moist so add gravy or something like that), mashed potatoes, refried or other pureed beans, pureed squash, SF applesauce, etc. I'm going to try pureeing a meatball with a little low sugar pasta sauce and am also going to try ricotta cheese with some low sugar pasta sauce and parmesan cheese. Many people eat cottage cheese, but I don't like it. My pureed stage is 6-8 weeks but that is probably more extreme than a lot of others. The next stage is " soft foods " where I am gradually introducing things like very soft meats (well chewed), scrambled eggs, etc. I don't remember how long that is or if it just kind of turns into " regular foods " as you go. Remember to keep the sugar and fat low to avoid dumping (and avoid excess calories). in MI > > for breakfest i been eating a sugar free jello and drinking some water > > then sip on water in between breakfest and lunch > > then for lunch i eat some chicken broth a coupple bites of jello and drink some water > > then sip on water inbetween > > then for dinner i eat beef broth and a coupple bites of jello and drink water > > is there anything elce that i can eat? or should i still be on the clear liquids? i was wondering bout like my instant breakfest it says no sugar added but on back it says 7 grams of sugar..thinking cause its chocklet its going to have sugar......but should i be able to eat like one of them for breakfest, and maby some mashed patatoes or something for lunch..cause this broth gets old..expicaly the beef broth..if you can give me ideas on what to eat i would appreceate it... > and one more thing they had givin me some kind of cup ice cream ii was trying to figure out what it was > > > --------------------------------- > Have a burning question?
