Guest guest
My newest doctor prescribed Baclofen. Has anyone used this? Any positive results? I've gotten sick to my stomach. The doctor said cut the dose and try a little longer. Anyone have this happen? Thanks!
Guest guest
, I am getting the round baclofen right now but would like to try the oval. " Rose " makes mine. I don't know if baclofen helps or not, guess it does because I walk better after taking it. I only take 20 mgs a day. Really probably need to increase it some. There is a man in the data base that has written the following on baclofen: " I was particularly disturbed to find there are different manufacturers of baclofen. Found out by accident. Have been getting round tablets and even from onset they didn't seem to help me and the dr. added zanaflex. Have been getting pills through VA since last fall and they have been the round ones. VA gets theirs through cheapest source or availability. One month got a batch of oval shaped pills and within a couple of days perked up considerably. Found out from my druggist there are different manufacturers and even though they're supposed to adhere to FDA standards, found out from the state pharmaceutical board our local druggist that there can be considerable differences " . Guess I can quote him as its listed in data base under Gerald . He said was a better shaped oval. I do know I could tell an improvement on the oval. I use walker and power chair. No walking or standing alone. Speech bad. No pain except hip at night sleeping on it. Slowly progressing since 2000. I take baclofen, klonopin, 400 mgs COq10 (took 1200 mgs for 2 yrs), 400 mgs Vit E. Peace, Arlene
Guest guest
You will probably think I am a Mental Giant because I said I was taking a oval baclofen but I am taking the round pill not the oval. (duh) Must be why I still walk the same way. I will request Oval next time. riddlea@... wrote: , I am getting the round baclofen right now but would like to try the oval. " Rose " makes mine. Guest guest
Arlene and others, Many years ago I was discussing baclofen with a chemist who is a member on here and hopefully will confirm or deny what I am about to say. I am sure he said that there were two forms of baclofen, a left hand form and a right hand form, as often happens in chemistry. They have slightly different properties and it could be that some brands are one form and some another. In fact some may even be a combined form. I know that happens in something I am looking at taking called phenylalanine. There is a D-phenyalanine and an L-phenylalanine and in actual fact the form which is best is the combined form DL-phenyalanine. I never bothered pursuing the baclofen issue as I don't like the cloudy feeling it induces in my head given I still need my brain (arguably the only part of me which still functions effectively) for full time computer programming and driving. I prefer to endure the stiffness for the sake of a clear head. However, if you are all finding that some brands of baclofen are better than others then it may be worth further investigation so you know exactly what you are getting and know which form you need.
