Guest guest Posted April 18, 2008 Report Share Posted April 18, 2008 I woke up yesterday morning to pain in my chest, below my left boob andin the middle of my rib cage. Once I got up and got ready for work the pain was gone. This morning same thing only 100 times worse. I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. So I go to the ER (get there at 830) and they draw blood and get a urine sample. The doc comes in and says I have leucocytes (sp) in my urine and my blood shows an infection (not a kidney or UTI) and also my enzymes in my liver are high. They give me morphine in my IV and also some protonix (like pepcid). Nothing. Pain still there, I'm still crying. They give me another dose of morphine. Still in pain. They send me to ultrasound and she checks my kidneys, liver, pancreas, blood flow, etc. Get back to my room still having pain (10 on a scale of 10). Another dose of morphine. Still nothing from it. So then they make me drink Mylanta or Maalox (white and nasty liquid) mixed with novacaine. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! No pain relief yet. By the time I leave the hospital it is almost 300 p.m. After 6.5 hours I leave with a prescription for Protonix and Dilaudin and paperwork that says I have " Abdominal Pain of Unknown Cause " . Ya think??? I knew when I went in I was having pain and the cause was unknown to me. Jackasses! So now I have to wait until Monday to call my family doc and get an appointment (at least a week away). In the meantime I am supposed to sit here and if it comes back they want me to go back in. I am still in pain, granted it is about a 5 on a scale of 10. The doctor was acting like I have an ulcer or something even though the cocktail and protonix didn't do a darn thing. Anyone else have this kind of pain that isn't relieved by morphine? I thought morphine would relieve any type of pain. My fiance's ex wife is a nurse and was there with me (yes to some that would be weird) and she asked him about costochondritis (sp) and he said that wasn't it because when he pushed on the spot that I said hurt it was just that spot and not all over. I'm just so darn irritated right now. And higher than a freakin kite from all the morphine.
