Guest guest
Marg, I just now remembered...you tried the F & F Center, right? What was your experience, again? Actually, I orginally wanted to get on it for weight loss. I have several things that will benefit from weight loss besides my self esteem. It gets a pretty good rating for weight loss. It's generic for Adipex. Yes, it is a rx. I asked my fibro dr. if she would rx it to me so I could lose weight.....it seems like most dr.'s won't do rx diet meds, but she said ok and that it could help with my fatigue, too. So, I researched it more and it is used off label for fatigue for fm/cfs. I've been on it 6 weeks now. It helps TREMENDOUSLY with appetite!!!!!!!!!!! It gives me a tiny bit of energy, that's why I add a little Provigil. If I take a whole one, my heart starts pounding. I had lost about 10 lbs after having my hypothyroid treated in January, but I have lost another 15 while on Phentermine (in 6 weeks). I do eat really, really healthy, but I haven't started working out yet. Now here's where it gets confusing.....For weight loss it is not recommended to take it for more than 6 to 8 weeks because it losses effectiveness and is very addictive and can cause brutal withdrawal. But, it seems like it is rx'ed for fatigue for much longer? I would think the addiction and withdrawal would be the same? Many people alternate it with dexedrine, an ADHD med that also causes weight loss to keep the effectiveness and avoid addiction. Topomax is also great for weight loss and can help with fibro pain. It's usually rx'ed for migraines. I tried it and it put my pain so far over the edge...I felt like my whole body was on fire. Horrible side effects are common, so be careful, but weight loss can be rapid. The side effects were NOT worth it to me, I couldn't stay on it for anything. Also, I don't think rapid weight loss is healthy. Many people have reported over 30lbs in 1 month!! Phentermine is only given at 37.5 mg, 1/day. Jill Re: Jeanne/Concerta...phentermine for jill hi jill, do you need a rx for it? not otc? what dose helps you? i may ask my primary care to try it. where did you learn about it for fibro? dr.t's center? thanks, marg > > Do you have ADHD or are you trying to manage fatigue? I've been taking Provigil and Phentermine. You are not supposed to take them on the same day, but I take 1/2 Provigil in the morning and a whole Phentermine around 11:00 a.m. Phentermine is actually an appetite suppressent, but helps with fatigue and even some pain in people with fibro. My son just started Concerta for ADHD and it keeps him up
Guest guest
jill, i have not been to the f&f center, i had thot about going, but i feel their fees are really taking advantage of us sick people. you and i emailed once about the centers, and at that time, you weren't sure if you were going back. i will talk to my pc about the wgt loss med to help with fatigue. dexedrine is the stimulant in adderall, i thot, and stimulants do help with wgt loss, but they are controlled subs. i am on concerta (long acting ritalin) but it no longer works much since i have been on it since 2002. i read about the migraine meds, but i don't get migraines (yet),so i don't know if any of them would help me. thanks, marg > > Marg, > > I just now remembered...you tried the F & F Center, right?
