Guest guest
Ok, I am back from the DR and it went very well. He is an awesome Internist and really is understanding and listens. We are starting with my lack of attention first. We discussed several options including, lack of sleep, pain, concentration. We both decided to start with the concentration part. I can't seem to focus on anything and don't know if this is ADD or Fibro fog. So I will be starting Provigil tomrrow. Dr said that I should know in 2 weeks if it is helping or I like the results. Then we will work on the lack of sleep and pain. I need to do some research on Provigil. I should have taken notes, since I have now forgotten what it will help besides trying to stay focused. Thanks again, Deb in MN

Guest guest
hi deb, if you aren't real sensitive to med side effects, provigil should help you. i got the allergic reactions and other side effects, most of the ones listed. but the difficulty breathing was really hard to deal with, i was at work, the 3rd tablet i took, and i was close to leaving work to go to get a steroid shot to be able to breath. i was only taking 100mg once a day. so with my fatigue, i have only been able to tolerate the long acting ritalin, which doesn't work as well as it used to because i have been on it for 6 years. keep us posted, marg > > Ok, I am back from the DR and it went very well. Guest guest
Deb, Provigil can also help with pain for some people. I've been on it for a little while. The 1st few days, it really made my back ache....which is a side effect. But, after that went away I had sooo much energy and it decreased my pain a little! I was estatic....For 3 days I cleaned every inch of my house. The 4th day, I didn't have as much energy and was hurting so I still did a lot, but didn't go crazy like I did the 1st few days. Day 5....I woke up in one of the WORST flare's I've ever had. It was really, really bad. I thought I was going to (and was ready) to die. It's been about a month or so and I'm just working my way out of the flare. Provigil helps me a little now, but nothing compared to when I 1st started it. Please don't be stupid like I was and pace yourself if you get tons of energy from it. Also, I would not take a whole pill until you know how it will effect you. If I take a whole pill at once I get really uncomfortable heart palpatations and shakiness. Start with 1/2 or even 1/3. Some people also take 1/2 1st thing in the morning and the other 1/2 around 11:00. Don't take it too late or you will be up all night........... Guest guest
I've tried provigil twice. The first time I didn't care for it. It made the brain fog worse, if I remember correctly. Then a couple months later we increased my Cymbalta as 60 mg. per day wasn't enough anymore. So then again a few months later, I again tried Provigil and had much better results. It seems to work in tangent with the Cymbalta and helps with pain and energy levels. The only reason I discontinued it was that it wasn't quite enough to get me through a day without napping, or to get me into the evening hours still functioning. I hope it works well for you. Take care. Jeanne in WI Ok, I am back from the DR and it went very well. He is an awesome Internist and really is understanding and listens. We are starting with my lack of attention first.
