Guest guest
Hi Saundra, My name is Jan and i'm new here but I'm very curious about the By pass surgery as I've been recoomended to have for many health reasons. One is the FM. Did you have the FM before or after? I have these " lumps " on my arms legs and some on my stomach. They all hurt. Some are big like a golf ball some are just tiny BB's. These are what really hurt the most. I was told some are fat deposits. Others are my muscles all bunched up. Either way only I can touch them. I guess what I want to know is do you have anything like that? If so did they start to go away after the By pass? This is what I've been counting on. And for anyone else that has had the By pass or similar. How the heck did you lose the 10% required to have the surgery. I'm having an awful time. My whole house hold is not on a regular schedule like the Cleavers seemed to be. My husband leaves super early in the morning and gets home super late. I work any where from 6:30 am to 12 am. depending on the schedule for the week. It's different every week. My kids are the same way. We are rarly home at the same time so eating a real meal is just plain hard to do. I was thinking of buying myself those Lean Quisines or something of that sort. Let everyone else fend for them selves. It's sink or swim! I want to lose weight, I really hate the way I am but I just can't seem to shut my mouth. Any ideas short of wiring my mouth shut? Or am I really not wanting this bad enough. I'm upset all the time betwwen the FM fog and pain to wanting to be able to go on a roller coaster or sit in a normal size chair anywhere. Just to be able to buy normal clothes that don't cost the extra 2 bucks or come from a specialty shop. I wouldn't be upset but I remember what it was like to be thin. I may not be model material but I was able to sit on the ground and get straight up. Now I would have to crawl to the nearest wall or tree and climb up slowly till the feeling came back in to my legs. I only have 4 months to lose the 35 pounds i need. They want to do the surgery in September or Oct. I started out good and lost 4 the first week. Now i struggle just to keep that off. I do still try the exersizing though. Maybe that will help. I'm just rammbling now. Sort of losing my train of thought so I'll shut up and wait for some help. Everyone take care, Jan Ok PS: Is it the meds that make us so tired? I take Effexor for the Bi Polar thing. I had it down from 150 mg to 75. Then the FM hit and I had it raised back up. I know that makes me tired. So is it the FM or the meds? I hate to think it's a double whammy. I really hate being tired. I like my mornings. I miss the mornings. Really leaving now before I think of something else. > > I have also had Gastric Bypass Surgery. I take Calcium Citrate with > Vitamin D and Magnessium. The Magnessium has been the key for good > absorbtion. I did not absorb the Calcium Carbonate as well either.

I had the surgery, and I can do all those things now....sit on the ground, stoop down, FIT IN A CAR!, gardening....it is wonderful! I still hurt from my fibromyalgia....but the feeling of wondering if I can fit in a chair at someones home or not is gone. It is wonderful! Now all I have to fight is the Fibro and Sjogrens I have, the fatigue, pain....no help to any doctors I might add. I also have a Vitamin D deficiency from the bypass. Guest guest
Jan, It is harded to lose the weight for surgery especially with certain FM meds that cause weight gain or swelling(water retention). I went on somewhat of an Atkin's diet where I only ate meat and veges(but in small portions where with Atkin's they say to eat all you want), cut out the salt, and drank lots and lots and lots of water. I just kept looking ahead. The first time my 10 yr old son came up to me and was so excited he could touch his hands when he hugged me there is nothing more valuable. I told my doctor I didn't want to be a model I just wanted to be able to go to the restroom with out having a cramp in my side trying to clean myself.(cleaner version) I just wanted to be able to go on amusement rides with my kids and sit at a picnic table without my entire backside hanging off the bench. LOL I did have the fat deposits or lumps as you said. My doctor explained they were deposits of fat that " collected " in one area usually because there was no more room for the skin to stretch so they were " compounded " . They have since thinned out and there is just loose skin there now. :-( They will hopefully take care of that with reconstructive surgery. If you would like I can support you in your efforts. I know it is hard with hectic schedules whether it be baseball or scouts etc.. I found it helpfule to make a whole meal of meat and veggies and then put them in individul containers per size. I saved a lot of money as well because I didn't have the excuse to eat fast food.
