Guest guest
I am a 44 year old white female in East TX. I am an R.N. and had never heard of fibro before I got ill with it. (this is because unfortunately they do not teach it in nursing schools). Of course I graduated nursing school in 1992 when it was not talked about hardly at all I am sure. But they still don't teach on it from what I hear. love, Debra V. jant6886 jant6886@...> wrote: Amen, Deb, Amen. You have hit it right on the head. I have been asked if I thought it was all in my head. If it was in my head I certainly wouldn't make up this kind of pain. I hate pain and now I have to live the rest of my life being in pain everyday, don't think I would make something like up in my head. I had never heard of fibro until I started having all this pain and my mom's neighbor has it and told my mom to ask me a few questions and that is how I heard of it. I agree with you though, sometimes the world does suck. People just don't understand. Sometimes when I talk to someone about it I either get, " Oh, I'm sorry, I know someone with that and I know it consists of a lot of pain " , or I get, " what is that? Never heard of it. " Then when you try to explain to them what it is they just look at you like you are crazy. When the pain really flares up, I wish I was just crazy and I could something to make it stop completely but I know I can't. I can make it tolerable but I can't make it stop completely. I know how it is for family to not understand too. I bought a book about fibro and my family refuses to read it because " they don't like to read " , to damn bad, this is something that is wrong with me and the only way they are going to understand it in the least bit is to read this book, that is how I learned more about it. I have had to go on strike in my house to get my family to help me with stuff. My son just today decided to clean the living room and dining room after 5 days of nothing getting done. Then had the gall to tell me that I didn't say Thank You to him, how often do they say that to me, NEVER!! (I'm having a bad fibro day also.) By the way, I am from Rensselaer, Indiana, white, so if we want to start a post with where everybody is from I think that would be a great idea. Then maybe we can get people who " say " they care about us to look at that post and we can say, " see, I'm not the only one with it and it doesn't just happen to people like me. " I kind of like that idea. I love you all also, this is the only place I can come to do get any kind of relief or help when the pain gets real bad. I have my friend/business partners that I can talk to but none of them have ever heard of this so it isn't easy for them to understand. I am so grateful I found this group. Thank you all for everything that you have done for me. You are all truely sent from God to help everyone with Fibro. > > If they did, they MIGHT think differently. Come on. How many of us are on this site? Are we all just crazy? If so, it is estimated that about 10 million people in America alone are having the same symptoms. I know I never read a damn thing about fibromyalgia and had no idea what was wrong with me until I got sick with it. I guess they think we look it up on the internet and decide " I think I will have that disease " . I can tell you now that if I was a liar and wanted to make something up, it would not be fibromyagia. The stigma alone would keep anyone from making it up. And how many walks of life do we come from???? > Some days the world just sucks to me. I guess this is one of those days. > Love ya all. You are the only ones that are really there for me. I get no understanding from anyone except the people here. Even the few that want to understand me cannot understand me. #1- they don't care enough to read anything about it and #2- they think " it can't be THAT bad " . > Debra V. > > between 0000-00-00 and 9999-99-99 > >
