Guest guest
, I don't know the answer to conditions other than cancer that would warrant a hyst. However, you should have your questions answered before the pre-op setting. Make sure you and your doctor are clear about what you and he consider " complications " . Be very specific with him. That way there should be no suprises. If cancer is the only " complication " you would consider a hysterectomy being necessary make sure the doc knows this and in this case anything else he finds he should just sew you up. Good luck with your decision and your surgery. Carmon if the doc asks me in the pre-op what I would like him to do..... if he found specific complications at the time of surgery ? I do not feel prepared to know what to say.... I assume I should tell him to sew me back up, ....unless it was cancer...? right ? Are there any other conditions that would warrant a hysterectomy besides cancer ?
Guest guest
, I think something like this really depends on the individual woman and her doctor. I felt very strongly about retaining my uterus, and my GYN understood that completely. Minutes before I headed into the OR (my myo was 2 months ago), he reassured me that I would *not* lose my uterus in this procedure. Even if he found something -- let's say " untoward " -- he would close me up, allow me to regain consciousness, and then let *me* make the decision about what to do next. I'm quite certain that if he had found cancer (which, thankfully, he did not), I would have decided to have my uterus removed, but *I* wanted to be the one to make that decision, not to have that decision made for me. Knowing that I would wake up with my uterus, no matter what, made a huge difference to me in many ways. And because my GYN was an expert surgeon, I had almost no worry that he might " have to " convert to a hysterectomy because of bleeding issues. You and your doctor might choose a similar chain of action, or, of course, you may find you're more comfortable choosing another sequence of events. The important thing is that *you* be the one to choose! Good luck to you, !
Guest guest
Hi , I hope your cough subsides in time for your Wed. surgery date. As far as complications that might indicate hysterectomy, the only ones my docot mentioned were cancer or adenmyosis (I know tht's misspelled!). That can't be corrected by myomectomy, as it's an all- over uterine condition. Best of luck to you, . Let us know what happens. -Mindy Are there any other conditions that would warrant a hysterectomy besides cancer ?
