Guest guest
Jeanne, I'm not sure what to suggest. I know that the potassium pill (huge horse pill...lol) all of a sudden started giving me fits - I couldn't get it down and of course it would eventually go down, but melt all the way (ewww). Anyhow, I had my pharmacy give me 2 10s vs 1 20 and it has been easier because they are coated. I think the coated pills and capsules are the easiest things to swallow, myself. I would prefer no liquid stuff either, although my vitamins are liquid (and taste terrible!). Darlene > > I had a hard time learning to swallow pills when I was a kid. I think I was like 10 or 11 before I finally could do. There used to be this aspirin called Ascriptin that I would chew with a spoonful of sugar when I needed to. > > So now as an adult, I do that tossing of the head thing, too. I have this spot in the back of my throat where sometimes pills get stuck. A small pill will get stuck and the only way to get it down is to swallow a bigger pill or a bite of food. Sometimes I get a big pill stuck and that usually causes a choking, gagging feeling until the pill comes back up. I hate that. I swallow tons of pills a day when you include all my meds and vitamins. > One thing I've found that helps is taking the pills with juice or a protein drink instead of plain water. Does anybody have any other suggestions? I really hate liquid meds, so don't really want to go that route. > Jeanne in WI > > Hi, and welcome here!! I laughed when you said you look like you're dying when taking pills. I kid my hubby all the time, he jerks his head back and carries on...I told him he's going to break his neck one of these days. Luckily I've never had that problem! > Hugs, > /Mi > >
