Well, the pills don't space me out.  Strangely enough, I am never out of it or

unable to function on them.

However, the strongest I take right now is hydrocodone and it has never done

that to me.  It actually makes me more alert.  NOW.. however, there could come a

day when I need morphine or fentanyl.. I am not sure how that would affect me. 

I suppose these meds might make me spaced out.  I had morphine ONE time in my

life with the birth of my little boy and I will tell you I was drunk for two

days and puking.  But as for now, the meds help me more than anything.  It is

just that I get so tired of having to take them to function.  And believe me, if

I did not have them, the fibro would not let me live anything near a NORMAL

life. 

Thanks for writing though.  I sure know it would be hard to be on medication

that spaces you out all the time honey.  I sure hope that never happens.  I am

glad I have my medication, but I just get kind of tired of having to depend on

them... although I will say I don't believe I have much of a choice.

I was so much like that. Always trying to remember which pills I

needed to take now. I finally said enough was enough and decided to

come off all but what was absolutely necessary. I now only take

insulin and Relafen.

All the medication combined actually made me suicidal. I went

inpatient in the hospital because I was on large doses of fentanyl

and morphine and that was the only way to come off. I live with so

much pain every day but I have my life back! I have learned to use

other ways of dealing with the pain, stretching, warm baths,

meditation, anything but the meds again. I know a lot of people

cannot deal with the pain but I like knowing what I am doing and not

being spaced out anymore. Have you tried alternatives to medications?
