Guest guest
Hello! My husband has just accepted a new job in Stamford, CT and we will be relocating there from Minnesota. We are looking for information on neighborhoods and jr. high/high schools in southwestern CT and/or eastern NY. Any information/tips you can share will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Guest guest
We are also interested in any information you may have about health care providers in the area. Currenly 's pediatrician coordinates her care, and she is followed by an ophthalmologist, cardiologist (specializing in pacemaker care), ENT, audiologist, and endocrinologist (growth hormone injections). We will be asking her doctors for recommendations, but we thought we would gather information from the " experts " first, those of you who live and receive care from the doctors in the area. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi , and I live in CT.....We live about an hour from Stamford. We got to Yale Children's Hospital for most of 's doctors. That too is over an hour away from Stamford. 's pediatrician in Orange, great coordinator of services also about an hour away from Stamford.... Commuting on 95 towards Stamford starting in about Bridgeport is all too often a challenge. Most often at a stand still through out rush hour. The closer to Stamford if not in Stamford is best for your husband. It depends on where you select to live... I have to look up the school's achievements ...I do not have it on my new computer...I can say without a doubt that the district in which we live is NOT a place to move. We live in Seymour CT....However I am looking for a district in CT that has a solid program. We also have a support group for our CT families.....CT DB FUN....we meet about 4 times a year....Support in school through our deaf/blind project BESB ( Board of Education Services for the Blind). NEC for deaf/blindness...multi-state project...CT, MA, NH,ME could be another...I will verify that. Also CT is very close to Perkin's school for the Blind Good luck on this adventure.....I would be happy to help you...CT very small state 2 hours no traffic end to end... Guest guest
Hi, Ellen! Thanks so much for your reply...lots of great information to get me started! I am sure I will have many more questions as we narrow our search of communities, if you don't mind. Thank you! ~ > > Hi , > and I live in CT.....We live about an hour from Stamford. > We got to Yale Children's Hospital for most of 's doctors. That too is over an hour away from Stamford. Guest guest
, I am a CT native and only moved to MA a few years ago. Do you know of any towns you're thinking of? Before the move get in touch with the Board of Ed Services for the Blind. Under that umbrella is the deaf/blind services. They might help you. You must know they are strapped with only two who work for/with school age children. Every district is different and you want to make sure the town you live in has appropriate services. I know of a few districts that are good in that area. Check out the real estate market in each area. Sadly the higher cost of living per district is what also is related to SPED. The higher standard of living makes districts seem like private schools. Wish it weren't that way, but it is. It's all about funding.
