Procedure for Aldosterone & Renin test?

I went to the Endo Friday & he wrote a lab order for " Plasma Renin and

Aldosterone Supine and Standing " . Plus RT3, Homocysteine, Lyme Disease

Antibodies, and EBV Antibodies. I went to Diagnostics Lab to have the

blood drawn. They took 3 vials of blood & as I was leaving I realized

that the order said " Supine and Standing " . I asked the lab tech about

that & of course she didn't know anything - so she checked with someone

& told me I would have to come back as that would take a long time to

do. My question is: what is the procedure? Will I be there for a long

time? I am so tired of all the incompetence of the medical profession.

First of all the Endo didn't think that my insurance co. would pay for

Aldosterone & Renin. I reminded him that my potassium & sodium were

low when I was hospitalized in October. Then he said he thinks I'm

taking too much Armour & am Hyperthyroid (even tho my basal temps are

less that 97 & my hands & feet are freezing & all the other HypoT

symptoms)! He basically blew me off & told me to come back in 6 weeks.

Sorry for the rant! This is so frustrating!

If you do the supine, you need to be lying down for at east 20 minu5tes

befroe the blood draw. You can do the standing either sitting or

standing when you walk in the office. Either one will tell you what you

need to knwo you should nothave to do both,

Thanks, Val. I haven't used any sea salt since Thursday although some

of the food I've eaten has been salted during cooking. Will that be

alright for the test? Also I'm assuming it is alright to take my HC &

Armour in the morning before the test. Is that correct? Anything else

I need to know? Thanks again for all of your help. You & everyone on

this group have been such a blessing to me!
