Guest guest
Asthema is a big contributor to my daughters coughing. Also, sleep apena. Her tongue falls back and can obstruct the airway. She used to need BIPAP or CPAP at night to help hold the airway open until the airway became more toned. Cathie, mom to ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. I'm asking as Jack has started taking Lisinopril (ACE inhibitor) for his dilated aortic root and aortic regurgitation and he has developed a tickly cough which is especially bad at night. Guest guest
I second on the asthma idea, our son was doing the same coughing only at night and we were stuffing cough meds down him and at work we hired a new secretary and she was coughing I heard her dropped my pen and went and said why are you coughing like that sounds just like my baby at night and she said asthma and sure enough with breathing treatments and meds the coughing went away. Now he has attacks if he is exposed to something like horses/hay but it is delayed he starts coughing about 8 hours after exposure which usually ends up at bedtime. Guest guest
has never been tube fed nor does she have asthma, yet she's periodically (at times for long, long periods) had coughing that sounds like what you're describing. Her dr decided years ago that her secretions dripped down at night and caused her to cough. I saw a similar thing with when she developed a mold allergy years ago --- same opinion from her dr. Just a thought. Martha
Guest guest
Our son has the reactive airways/asthma and when he gets more congested for whatever reason, he has those night coughs and choking. It is scary but we get him through it with suctioning and treatments. Your son may have asthma or reactive airways. our son is tube fed but on meds for reflux. ck > >Reply-To: CHARGE >To: CHARGE >Subject: Re: night coughing >Date: Fri, 25 May 2007 20:30:36 +1000 (EST) > >HI, > > Sounding like Asthma to me.... just a thought as my daughter is the same >the coughing is mostly at night and she is a chronic asthmatic :-( > > > Mum to Hayley 3 yrs old > Australia > > & Gwynne jeberino@...> wrote: > Hi there > >My son has been having persistent night coughs for the past six >months. Guest guest
My son Evan seems to cough at night more when he has or is getting an ear infection. Evan has tubes in his ears, but they are near the end of their life-span and get plugged sometimes with wax. When they were working and he didn't have fluid in his ears, he didn't cough much at night. Evan also has obstructive sleep apnea and uses CPAP at night--this might intensify the effect ear infections have on coughing (we usually don't put him on CPAP if we know he has an ear infection). Guest guest
hiya im kellie, catlyn's mum (CHARGE 17mnths). caitlyn was like that about 3months ago, we didnt get much sleep all night and neither did caitlynno matter how we lay her. it wasnt just a little cough either it was a nasty 'chocking cough' like it sounds your describing. caitlyn was also like this while she slept during the day for even for half an hour bless. she doesn't have chonal atresia and she is tube fed only. caitlyn did have really bad reflux when she was younger but she had a 'FUNO OP' in december which totaly stopped that. we got seen by a breathing specialist who diagnosed caitlyn with sleep apnea after 1 week in hospital because we couldnt physicaly or mentaly cope anymore with this nasty cough. they gave caitlyn a sleep study then she was put on abity of oxygen and a C-PAP machine overnight and antibiotics and she is doing brilliant on it! her tonsils and adonoids are too big but its too risky to get them out yet so she's having to wait until she is stronger and older. hope this helps and hope u get jesse sorted real soon!. x > >Reply-To: CHARGE >To: CHARGE > >Subject: night coughing >Date: Fri, 25 May 2007 07:57:32 +0100 > >Hi there > >My son has been having persistent night coughs for the past six >months.
