I NEVER recommend Chelation while treating adrneals until they are at

least STABLE and you have thyroid almost optimal In the first place it

is known to really trash adrenals, second, thyroid is your body;s

natural detoxing hormone, why not give it a chance to do it;s job?

Hi Val,

I wonder if that is one reason Iodoral seems to be so hard on the adrenals?

ie, due to its detox/chelation effect? Yesterday I added 6.5 Iodoral to my

regimen and my temps crashed BIG TIME, and I couldn't bring them back up.

Nothing else changed.

just a thought,

Thanks Val! Do you know where I can find more information? I seem to

be able to find a plethora of info promoting chelation, but nothing

that cautions anything other than a few side-effects. My personal

experience has been to crash. (It was ugly.)

Also, I definitely want to post-pone the therapy, but was wondering

about the risks of a two-day challenge and how much of an impact it

might have. Would stress dosing make it more of a possibility?

Lastly, just a thought/question . . . since the thyroid and adrenals

seem to eliminate the metals when optimally functioning, could it be

that when folks have reactions after first starting meds like armour,

HC, etc that they may be experienceing detox?

Thanks again for all your help!

Just a thought. Iodine not only stimulates the THYROID which when you

have Hashi can stimulate antibody attacks but excess iodine can also

LOWER thyroid function. As you can tell I am not overly pro iodine

I look at it this way, you have been living wiht th emetals for a long

time, your adrenals can crash and wreck 2-3 years of your life.

Sometimes more. Fix the adrenals first. Thyroid at proper levels may do

the detox for you.

It's my understanding that many people with thyroid problems (particularly

Hashis) have problems taking iodine. It makes them much worse.

Dahlia,

What is the actual mg of iodine in 6.5 (mg, I guess?) of Iodoral?

In googling " iodine toxicity " I found a couple places that over 2 mg of

iodine daily is considered toxic or at least potentially toxic.

Now I know that people taking a whole lot more than that are not exactly

dropping like flies, but still............Iodine is worthy of respect

and some caution, I think.

Hi Sol,

Iodine is one of those contentious subjects! I generally prefer to leave it

off the boards here, but I was struck by how low my temps went when I added some

in the other day. I'm firmly in the Iodoral is good for you camp. I know this

doesn't apply to everyone and folks with Hashi's (and other issues) have to be

careful. But for me, except in recent experience, which is most curious, I have

done very well on it, and it is part of my every day protocol.

But, how much iodine was in the iodoral you took?

I'm still curious.

Sol,

One tab of Iodoral is 12.5 iodine/iodide, like lugol's. I usually take 1-2

tabs per day but on the day I wrote about where my temps tanked, I think I took

6.5 in the morning and 6.5 in the afternoon, trying to get rid of bronchitis. I

didn't realize til later that I was also dosing with lugol's in my neti pot

3x/day, so I probably was getting a lot more iodide/iodine than I realized.

Still, I have noticed that Iodoral is hard on the adrenals and I was wondering

aloud to the poster who wrote about chelation, if that process--which Val

thought is hard on the adrenals--might be on of the reasons Iodoral is hard to

take when one has AF.
