Your Yahoo ID is always attached to your name and highlighted in blue

so you can click on it. If I click on yours, I see that you're in

Florida, and so am I. So my next question is, what city? This would

also be helpful when people are looking for doctors in their general

vicinity.

If you've recently posted, just click on your Yahoo ID and you can

edit your profile.

Personally do not feel this is not a very good idea. My yahoo

profile has me as a 69 year old man for my protection

nothing else is filled out. This information is open to anyone and

everyone one the net.

Barb,

Are you talking about posting form list websites at yahoo? I don't see

my yahoo ID linked anywhere on my computer, which is where I read and

reply to emails.

I don't have anything to hide. If someone wanted to

find out where I lived, they could easily look it up

in public records. Our private information is already

out there. I think maybe children need to caution

themselves from stalkers.

I read posts in two places: in the summarized digest, where yours

says " cat_thump " right next to your name, and on the website, where

posts are listed in chronological order and I just read them by

clicking on one post and then hitting " next " at the top to read the

next. The author is always listed to the right. I didn't think

divulging your city, state, age, and sex was any big deal. My last

name, mailing address, and phone number are not up there. There are

a lot of women my age in my city, so didn't see how divulging that

was a security risk. It was just a suggestion because sometimes

people don't give much info on their posts, and the info is sometimes

relevant in giving advice.

I filled in gender, age and location, but I wouldn't list your e-mail

address or real name for privacy reasons - maybe the e-mail address if

you only use it for this and don't care if it gets harvested and

spammed. We talk about some pretty personal stuff here and even

though this list is carefully moderated, people can sneak by which is

why we don't disclose our source list for meds. My .02.

Barb,

People do not often realize just how much information they

actually give out over time about them selves.

Live in Texas however as a child visited Illinois often a lady in

one of my groups would talk about her life with a 29 year old

niece whom was handicapped she slowly gave out so much information

that knew just where she lived in the country and had not been to this

area in 25 years. As the two ladies lived alone on a horse ranch is just

was not safe.

One just never knows.

BTW if oyu want ot know just how much info is available about yourself

or family, just type your name into Google search bar sometime. I knwo

my profile is the least of my worries! Most public records, marriage

licences, divorce decrees, real etate transactiona are available online

if you knwo where to look. I have found old friend that I have not seen

in over 25 yeasr this way...

It is rather dangerous. Little story....my daughter was a part of a group

(not Yahoo) and posted regularly. She also was on a romance site and got

into a little tiff with someone and even tho she used a ficticious user name

....she wrote to him with an email used on the chat site. He found her

because she posted a complete profile. Told her he could come to her house

if he wanted and threatened her.

That was about 4 years ago but since that ....she doesn't post anything

period.

I did, and got: " Your search - babalo1234 - did not match any

documents. " However, if I search on my real first and last name, I

find there's another one of me in another state LOL!

So please all, excuse me for being naive, post as much or as little

info as you want about yourselves, but include your vitals when you

post and ask questions, and I apologize for opening this can of worms.

True however you can opt out of the Google search and all

the others and they will remove your name and information.
